Crist drops anti-abortion language from website
By PHILIP ELLIOTT (AP) – 1 day ago

WASHINGTON — Florida Gov. Charlie Crist has dropped strong anti-abortion language from his campaign website as the Republican-turned-independent courts Democrats and independent voters in his Senate bid.

Crist, who moderate reputation didn't sit well with some Republicans, abandoned the GOP to run as an independent.

In a poll released Wednesday, Crist enjoyed a slim lead in a three-way race over tea party favorite Marco Rubio and likely Democratic nominee Rep. Kendrick Meek. The poll found Crist is the best known of the candidates and retained a favorable rating of 52 percent. Among Democrats, his favorability rating was 55 percent.

"Governor Crist believes strongly in the sanctity of life," according to the now-stripped website page. He also cited his support for adoption and opposition to same-sex marriage.

A spokesman for Crist did not have an immediate comment.

on having women view a sonogram before an abortion...let's see him sign it.

2. He just vetoed it
I just vetoed HB 1143. This bill placed an inappropriate burden on women seeking to terminate a pregnancy, and I have always believed that personal views should not result in laws that unwisely expand the role of government and coerce people to obtain medical tests or procedures that are not medically necessary. In this case, such action would violate a woman’s right to privacy. There are many medical or fiscal barriers that could be placed upon a woman in order to prevent her from following through on her constitutionally protected decision to end a pregnancy. However, such measures do not change hearts, which is the only true and effective way to ensure that a new life coming into the world is loved, cherished and receives the care that is deserved. You can find the veto letter here: http://www.flgov.com/leg_actions/2010/2010_hb1143.pdf

4. Our bodies are used by both parties
for political gain. In this case, Charlie Crist did the right thing. He could have went the other way to try to get repug votes...but he didn't and I and many other women here in Florida will remember that when it comes time to vote.

We've got a T-Bagging Marco Rubio on the right who looked as if he would beat Charlie in the primary---then we have Meeks on the left--- who heads up against Rubio would most likely lose.

Charlie pulled a Lieberman---went independent and now leas both Rubio and Meeks....

In other words--- between Rubio and Crist---I'll take Crist any day of the week.
