10. There is no God. Stuff happens. It always happens.
If you're where it happens, it happens to you. Why would you think some deity did it? That just doesn't make any sense at all.

11. If there is a god and he gives a shit about this planet
both of which are extremely unlikely, perhaps he's going after the largest concentration of Dispensationalists, the Southern Baptists and all those little wingnut churches all over the rural south.

Then again, this stuff is pretty normal for that part of the country. Every year, there are floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other disasters.

I can't think of one thing they do that's in keeping with Jesus' socialist, humanist, loving ways.

14. The TV Preachers are ominously silent...
when disasters hit the Red States - or rather, Red States in areas where there's a lot of white people. Or else I'm just not listening. I'm sure they'll blame the gays in San Francisco, or the liberal Jews in New York City, though. I mean, there was an oil spill in Salt Lake City over the weekend. If I were still a fundie who believed in collective punishment, I'd be thinking that this was the oil repayment for all that blood shed in Iraq. But more realistically, I think all this crap does have to do with the deregulation done by Republican (and some Democratic) administrations over the past 30 years.

15. The Bible itself says that the rain falls and the sun shines on the just and the unjust.
In other words, shit happens.

Maybe the Bible Belt believes they should be immune to sorrow. Evidently they skipped reading the book of Job. My guess is that they skipped reading most of what they want to call their holy book. Most indulge in the Bible buffet where they pick and choose the verses they like and disregard the others.

22. Well, they are continually insisting that God favors them and they
can prove it because He blesses their lives while He does not bless the "unsaved". If ever there was a challenge to God that is one. He is just forcing them to eat their words!
