Arizona mom says she no longer wants her kids
By MARK CARLSON, Associated Press Writer

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

(06-15) 08:36 PDT PHOENIX (AP) --

Arizona police officers arrested a mother after she reportedly told police she didn't want her children any longer.

Police in the Phoenix suburb of Surprise say they received a 911 call Friday from an 11-year-old boy who said his mother was packing and moving to California and wasn't taking him or his 6-year-old brother with her.

Police spokesman Sgt. Mark Ortega said the boy's mother, Christina Muniz (MYOO'-neez), 29, came out and told officers that she was "sick of her children" and wanted the police to take them so she can "have fun and play."

Officers said they then contacted Child Protective Services.

Police said Muniz continued to be verbally abusive to the children in the presence of CPS and police.

As the children were being removed by CPS, officers said the 11-year-old attempted to hug his mother, and was met with a punch to the abdomen.

--------

Muniz, dressed in her black and white-striped jail garb, told the magistrate it "was a big misunderstanding, miscommunication."

5. Ah, She just wants to have fun! (snark)
These stories sometimes make me wish we had mandatory parenting classes, expecially for 18 year olds having babies. Even if she needs help and isn't getting any, you don't treat your kids like that.

Poor child, trying to hug Mommy and getting punched in the gut by her instead.

6. Please find an adult who will love those kids.
The sad part of this is how the kids love their real mom. Maybe Muniz can get visitation rights.

7. My son's girl friend was tossed out when she turned 18!
She now lives here with us. My son was just accepted to the U. of Ca. Now they both will start community college this Fall.
Guess I really am a bleeding heart liberal commie, but, it works for me!

8. Why we used to have government run orphanges
People who didn't/couldn't take care of their kids were placed in them. It wasn't just for kids whose parents were dead. My husband's great-grandfather and gg-uncle were placed in one because their parents couldn't take care of them for medical and financial reasons.

14. My biological grandmother picked which ones of her kids that she
wanted to keep and took the rest down to the welfare office and dropped them off. My mother was raised in an orphanage while her older brother and younger sister stayed home.

19. My biological grandmother got sick of her 7 kids and just walked off, had them sent to an orphanage.
Their dad tried to keep them for a while but they were poor to begin with. My mom and the younger children were contracted out as slaves.

Through it all, my mom managed to become the most tender, trusting and nurturing person anyone who meets her will ever know. It amazes me still.

11. They really shouldn't give the kids back to her.

Misunderstanding my ass. She only wants to beat and bully them to the
point where they won't interfere with her next attempt at play time.

13. I'll take 'em!
Shit like this really pisses me off. My husband and I can't have kids. I know that we'd be much better parents than this bitch. This is why I'm beginning to feel that there is no Deity up there - and I'm a Pagan. If there was a Mother Goddess, she'd give kids to those that want them and strike assholes like this with permanent infertility.

18. "It's different when they're your own"
I wish I could count how many times some person with children said the above to me over the years.

I'm with the poster above who said that birth control should be in the water supply.

The woman in question was most likely told that abortion is a sin and that she would change her mind when the kids came. She didn't. There's now two kids that are going to be a mess for life because of her inability and unwillingness to parent.

I hope the two boys are quickly adopted by someone who will care for them.
