Paraphrasing the crap out of it, since no one is willing to be directly quoted, chickenhawks that they are.

Reporting it in breathless, "can you believe it style". Using dramatic rhetoric, describing one politico (who?) as asking Bush if he's willing to continue "spilling the blood" of sons and daughters, as is if there anyone(of the R's) who actually would say that to him.

Calling it a "private" meeting and then describing all the attendees, which included Tony Snow and Karl Rove.

And they told Russert exactly what to say. Can there be any doubt that NBC is the war cheering, war profiteering, Republican propping up Big Three (not so much now) stations. Kind of like ABC is the propaganda channel. CBS is just a mess.

edited, posted the unfinished product.

on edit, to me, it seemed like a political stunt to save the political asses of those who attended the meeting and "spoke up".

14. That's what happens when he hasn't had enough time rehearsing
those talking points. If it's not right out there phonetically on the teleprompter, he's lost. He really was stammering and stuttering, wasn't he?

3. This story certainly raises more questions than it answers.
My personal bet is that the Puggies are trying to get him to resign before the Dems move the whole Republican compost heap with impeachment proceedings & expose what's underneath.

I think the Dems have some REALLY BIG stuff & the Puggies know it.

8. KO is better, to me, because he doesn't have history of taking calls from the WH for direction.

6. Russert is a butt wipe. I will never forgive him for his Limbaugh interviews.
He worships Rush Limbaugh, and is the only Mainstream Media type allowed to interview His Evil Holiness. And asks bs questions.

11. I Agree - This Is A Political Stunt And Another Stall Tactic To Extend The War....
past September and into next year. This revelation by Russert shifts the onus on Gen. Patreaus. They are setting it up and him up as the most credible spokesperson for this war and they will use him to get their extension.

Until a group of Repugs go into the WH and demand * to step down - I won't believe anything that comes out of this WH or group of so-called Repugs that had this candid talk with *.

Russert is just being used here as well as MSNBC.

19. This is Timmy trying to save the Republics...his party. They, and he,
know that they are going to get plowed under in the next election because they are still hermetically sealed to *'s tush. They are trying to separate from him without having to get in front of a camera and do it themselves. Timmy is the megaphone for a little symbolic rebelliousness. Anyone seen any names on these "11?"

Believe me, this is an RNC production with the whiff of Rove about it.

25. Of COURSE it's a stunt
Edited on Thu May-10-07 06:45 AM by rocknation
Do you REALLY think eleven moderate Repubs called the Oval Office, said, "Drop what you're doing, Mr. President, we're coming to see you NOW," and proceeded to read him the riot act? You think it's a coincidence that the Repugs said they wanted to see results by September? Meanwhile, in a totally unrelated story, Cheney makes a surprise visit to Iraq to tell the government NOT to take two months off while the oil revenue sharing bill is on the table!

It's a stunt, all right. The Repubs can brag that they "opposed" Bush in their re-election campaign, and after persuading the Iraq government to stay in business through the summer, Bush can secretly push through the oil revenue bill and declare victory!
