With all due respect, Mr President...this is not a "leak" |
|
We passed "leak" 2 months, hundreds of dead wildlife bodies, and thousands of out of work Gulf Coast residents ago... The worst environmental disaster in our country's history is anything but a "leak".
What were his speech writers thinking????

10. English language has a relative void of good words to describe this |
|
I challenged several people to use a word that wasn't a little overdone (like gusher) and it was hilarious - the English language simply lacks sufficient ways to describe this pipe flowing a lot of oil into water.

20. why reject the single best fitting word? we've always called uncontrolled flows of oil "gushers" |
|
i don't see how being underwater means the word no longer describes it.
but if you insist, how about:
"UNDERWATER gusher"?

28. The Random House Dictionary defines |
|
gusher as a flowing oil well, usually of large capacity.
Seems pretty damn accurate to me.

I am sick of people mincing words and being terrified to tell the truth forcibly and with passion. A person doesn't have to be a raving lunatic to be forceful and honest.

26. With all due respect, he practically declared war on the oil spill |
|
he referred to it as an "assault" and acknowledged it was our greatest disaster. You are being very nit picky on this. very unnecessary and confirms what other people say about him not being able to please anyone.

35. Heaven forbid there be nitpicking |
|
Thank goodness there was none of this nitpicking back when BP handed in it's clean up plan to the feds pre-disaster..think of how annoying a phone call would have been to that expert oil person they listed as the person to turn to in a disaster.."You expect the guy to be alive? Quit nitpicking!" Reading over that plan? "Ok, so there are NO walruses in the Gulf and they obviously copy/pasted...they are busy executives and didn't have time, quit nitpicking"!
