If President Obama had gone down there on day one and got all bullhorn
on BP, how do you think the conservatives in this country would have reacted, Chris Matthews...

Remember how well that worked out back in 2001, Chris Matthews...

I guess that the Cat in the Hat approach that Bush put in motion on that pile of rubble worked out pretty good for the country, Chris Matthews...
(Maybe Obama is the cats xyz)

Remember when we had a budget that was pretty much in balance, Chris Matthews...

Remember how the long slow erosion of American credibility started that day in NYC back in 2001, Chris Matthews...

Remember how Bush paraded around on the deck of that Aircraft Carrier back in 2002, Chris Matthews....

How did that work out for you, Chris Matthews...

Anyway, all I can say is I wept for the country that I was proud of most of my life back then, Chris Matthews...

I am happy that President Obama didn't get all macho because, being the child of a battered woman, I know what usually happens when the dick takes over for the brain, Chris Matthews...

1. Thank you for that rant. It needed to be said.
Tweety has no clue. The bullhorn was treason. Manipulation. No honesty. Do we really want that? Again?

17. I am getting tired of being lied to
That pathetic speech by our so-called leader was a bunch of hog snot. BP and the federal government knew this was WAY worse from day one. Now we are being told to pray for shrimpers and that the beaches will be restored to their original condition. Pluheeze!! That won't happen in our lifetimes. As for the the "new" estimate of oil flow, that is nothing new. Scientists have been saying that for months. Even a writer for, OMG! The Examiner!!! wrote about that a month ago. You can read it here: http://www.examiner.com/x-38220-Orlando-Independent-Exa... . If someone can sit on a PC and give the facts a month before the government, BP and the corporate media does, you have to know we are being lied to and conditioned to slowly accept the true magnitude of this disaster. Furthermore, there are enough toxins in the air from evaporating oil without burning more. Here's another: http://www.examiner.com/x-38220-Orlando-Independent-Examiner~y2010m6d15-Toxins-in-air-from-evaporating-oil-may-pose-greater-threat-to-Gulf-residents-than-oily-water This disaster is already out of hand!

2. I have a very low capacity for listening to that man go on and on...
I've got some good programming on the History International HD channel and the Documentary Channel.

:P

3. Most of us know Matthews past.
Chris Matthews is looking for a 'man' to 'take care' of him.

5. THANK YOU
I have no doubt that when the history books are written, our media will be lampooned as the worst villains on the stage. They will slam Beck and Rush, but one name needs to be added to that list, Tweety, who has done a LOT to ruin and cheapen political thought.

7. For sure....
The growth of the media and the erosion of their professionalism will certainly be a large part of the discussion in years to come.

8. I'm not interested in straw men, Tweety's or yours.
BP is ordering around the US Coast Guard. Adequate steps were NOT taken to protect our coasts. Instead, it was watch and see IF the oil was coming and then we'll think about it.

If Bin Ladin had done it, could the damage have been worse? This was criminal negligence and NOBODY is in jail. This was an attack on the security of the United States by a power with NO allegiance to us. Yet we mobilized NOTHING to protect our people. Instead, we privatized it and BP hired contractors to lackadaisically sweep our sands.

The slow, leisurely government response is outrageous. I would rather have seen National Guard brought home from Iraq and Afghanistan to protect our shores from the ENEMY which BP is to us. Then we wouldn't have needed so much of their oil for our wars. Oh wait. Their oil is OUR oil, isn't it? We lease it to them for very little then buy it back for a whole lot.

I would have been impressed if Obama had eliminated the middle men on grounds of national security. Seized BP's assets in American territory before they could declare bankruptcy. Or hide assets.

Instead he tries to placate us by talking tough about them but not by doing anything TO them. I didn't vote for a placator. But I got one.

11. Well, that's the problem, isn't it?
Obama and his supporters are always far too worried about how the conservatives will react and not nearly worried enough about doing what is right.

13. I am now convinced that Chris Matthews spent and
spends way too much time at the movies. He thinks life is a fucking movie and that serious catastrophes can be resolved in two hours. Some fucking hero is always going to solve the problem before the movie ends. Call MacGyver or STFU.

14. I think Chris Matthews gets paid much to much for what he does.
And I think he doesn't want to see the tax cuts expire. that's what I think.

15. I think that is why most of the media tilts conservative now...
The money they make and the perception that they pay too much in taxes...

16. Certainly the biggest earning anchors.
That's probably why local television tends to be more even in its reportage....
not frothing at the mouth like the national better paid media commentators.
