Genetically Modified Alfalfa and the Gulf of Mexico Oil Blowout
In the same way us humans were sold on the safety of drilling for oil, with its deadly consequences at least partly known, how long until another arm of big corporate tells us that whoops, our GMOs are spreading corporate-altered genes throughout the biosphere, and that whoops, sorry, but there's no way to put that genie back in the bottle? Would the effects of a genetic poisoning even be visible to us, until it was too late? At least with the Gulf blowout, there's physical evidence that cannot be fully concealed to non-enhanced human senses.

Can we say the same thing about genes that profit-driven corporations, instead of nature through natural processes, have placed into the gene pool?

mini rant inspired by http://www.credoaction.com/campaign/alfalfa_monsanto/?rc=homepage">Stop Monsanto's GMO Alfalfa.

2. I eat my genes with honey.*
I've done so all my life.

It makes the genes taste funny,

but it keeps them on my knife.

*with apologies to old folk rhymes everywhere.

5. Then my genes became runny,
as I ate all the honey
not so funny
Oh,
so much for life

4. Well, if they actually used the mutant MonSatan hay to soak up the oil in the Gulf
at least then it would be good for something.
