Tammy Faye Messner ends cancer treatment
Tammy Faye Messner ends cancer treatment
1 hour, 28 minutes ago

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Former televangelist Tammy Faye Messner said doctors have stopped treating her cancer and that her weight has dropped to 65 pounds.

In a letter posted Tuesday on her Web site, Messner thanked her "faithful friends" for sending her flowers, cards and gifts as she battles cancer for a third time. The 65-year-old Charlotte resident was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 1996, and she announced in 2004 that the disease had spread to her lungs.

"The doctors have stopped trying to treat the cancer and so now it's up to God and my faith. And that's enough!" she wrote.

Messner said her daughter and her daughter's friends were taking care of her while her husband, Roe Messner, builds churches. He had no comment on his wife's condition, said a woman who answered the phone Wednesday at his business.

8. Tammy Fayne is the former wife
of Jim Baker. The two of them use to head up the PTL (Praise the Lord) Club They built a Christian empire and Theme Park just out side of Charlotte in Fort Mill, SC. until their lifestyle and hypocrisy brought them down. They bilked a lot of people out of their money.

Google Jim and Tammy Faye Baker and you'll get the scoop on them.

2. saw this earlier
very sad. She's quite a character, and seemingly a very nice lady. It's sad to see her suffer like this.

3. His wife is dying and he's out building houses???
You would think he would want to be with her as much as possible knowing he doesn't have that much time left with her. I feel sorry for her. It's sad. Oh well.....another example of the good ole "compassionate conservative" and family values. :puke:

15. Elizabeth's condition is far better than Tammy's
we know Tammy doesn't have long to live and her dropping to 65 pounds and ending treatment .

Elizabeth still has the potential to live for years. and her case is not as bad as first suspected.

17. And what if Elizabeth gets a lot worse? Will it be time for Edwards to quit?
I think these are personal decisions between couples.

What do you think?

10. I used to watch the PTL Club.
That was a lot of fun back in the 80s. In a way, it was a better time. I wish her well. I certainly want her to live her remaining days peacefully and without pain.

....the PTL Club for a laugh when I was a kid, but Tammy Faye always came across as a sincere, if slightly ditsy, character. Her husband was a sleazy rat bag Elmer Gantry wannabe, but Tammy herself seemed a harmless soul. And you had to love the eye make-up.

Their son, Jay Bakker, had an interesting reality show on Sundance a few months ago. He's a liberal, pro-gay minister with lots of rings and tats and a church he calls Revolution. Who looks just like his old man. Sweet.

I wish her well.
