I"m not sure just where I fall on this poll...
I think he could have done more, been more forceful...but. Not sure just what...
I think he's letting BP get away with murder. People need to see the pictures we've seen of the oily waves and the dead animals...

I really needed another category on the poll lol, but have never done one before.
Besides I am blinded by my anger over this disaster and cannot think straight.

5. I've only done one of them too... |
|
And they can be confusing...
Besides, it's the middle of the night for you, and you're most likely tired...
And being angry makes things tough too, sweetie...

Angry, frustrated, outraged, sickened and while I sit here typing and upset: I know that the oil is still (to take a line from one of your poems) ROARING out into the Gulf. And they are still spraying the poisons as well.
I just can't take it all in. I am really really losing my mind over this.

2. I would have gone in between those |

I think that he has mobilized the government well.
I don't think that he has mobilized the public well to meeting the challenge of moving from a gas based economy.
I suspect that he will do so on his own timetable.

4. I think he is doing what can be done - in his own style. I don't expect a lot of |
|
rhetoric from him, nor fireworks. But I am sure he has given more honest WORK to this problem that any of his 3 immediate predecessors was capable of giving. Hs has a lot going on at one time and this whole situation has been exacerbated by the terible mess left by the republicans cutting down on regulations in order to "free business" from the evil government constraints...one result is there are NO federal agencies that seem to have an control over the big oil corporations...I just heard that there are 25 OSHA inspectors in all of the 4 Gulf states so far affected by the oil.
I don't worship Obama, but he is doing a very good job with this, IMO.

He should put on scuba gear and dive down there himself and plug up the darn thing. JEEZ.

9. Um, I know your post was tongue in cheek and sarcastic |
|
but as a diver, I can tell you that scuba is not possible at 5000 feet.
Just sayin'.

10. Hard to say without all the evidence |
|
But the disaster itself was something many of us dreaded, and hoped President Obama would reverse past course on.
The evidence I'm waiting on is this- were we doomed as soon as it happened?

is that skimmer ships should have been brought in immediately.
The offers of help from other countries should have been accepted...the offers of help from the other OIL companies should have been accepted.
Obama sat on his hands for 57 days...this is a tragedy and a travesty.
Bush could have done as well as Obama has, in my opinion.

If I had to list my biggest criticism, it's that we were not told how bad it was, and we probably still aren't.
I had to go read the summation of what BP did that day, and I'm still looking at that cracked well thinking, "We aren't going to be able to plug that, are we?"
But your assertions are entirely correct. From the regulation all the way til last night, it was too little, too late. Where we go from here is not comforting.

13. I don't have an opinion that fits any of those questions |
|
My basic problem is that the man is STILL trying to avoid giving up on "triangulation" in dealing with this.
Thing is, even if you're trying to be a "centrist", there are times when you CAN'T be and still deal with the situation.

I've just started researching on my own, so take this for what it's worth; What I heard from a Canadian geologist is that BP did not put a second access in this particular 'well', in other words no safety net-- a big part of the reason it's so difficult to contain. The reason they didn't do it, is is costs a few million dollars more to do it. Evidently a second access is standard in some places. T
Like I said, I've just started to do my own research. I want to get a better feel for the truth, based on facts, no matter how painful it is. Right now I don't know enough, the first thing I need to do is find credible sources. Best place for that right now is in the scientific communities that manage to be non-political, or at least as non-political as possible.
