Fox News & 24 Hour Fitness |
|
Why is it that every 24 Hour Fitness I go to ends up having Fox News on every other tv screen. Don't they realize there are OTHER news channels out there?!?
If it weren't for my steal of a gym membership, I would cancel the 24 Hour membership for good.

2. I'm sorry, but I only pay $49 a year |

If I were to go anywhere else, it would be exponentially higher. Why the knee-jerk response with an attack? Sheesh...

6. I don't know if you meant that comment for me or the person above, |
|
but I do bring my iPod as well. I was just commenting on how my experiences w/24 Hour Fitness are that they seem to play a majority of Fox News on their TV's when compared with other news programs that they air. It's hard to avoid Bill O'Reilly's ugly face staring at you while doing cardio... I usually try and find a cardio equipment that is away from the Fox bs spewed out.

Not watching FOX on TV is not that big a deal. Its not like CNN or MSNBC are than big a difference.

they blatantly lie and/or distort truths and/or fail to report items. As well, they use politicians as reporters... I'd MUCH rather watch Keith than O'Reilly. Anyday.

11. Keith, Rachel and Ed aren't on 24x7 |
|
apart from them, MSNBC is not much different from CNN, which is not much different from FAUX.
I barely watch M$NGE, almost never watch CNN and never watch FAUX. Life is much better without cable dreck.

I don't care for those either, but drama is drama. Fox news is not worthy of even being aired, let along being on every other tv screen. Location is probably key, as I'm in San Diego which is very heavily influenced by the Republicans.

or recumbent bike - read a magazine.
There are several teevees in the gym I go to, and they all have buttons that select other channels. If yours has such a feature, change the one directly in front of you.

19. You can read a magazine while working out? |
|
I can't... I'm working out and can't focus on reading. I wasn't trying to help anyone out on this matter, are any of these posts on GD actually to help people, or to inform?

20. I can't. I don't use those machines in the gym, but I see a lot of people |
|
on them with magazines and paperback books.
Today I did free weights, and when I got home, rode a long wheel base recumbent on the highway for an hour.
Tomorrow, universal type cable machines, then more bicycle.
I don't know how people can read on those machines, but they do. And because I've seen them being used, I made the suggestion.

I know some people that read while working out. They often get frustrated with working out and seeing no results. I wonder why...!?! LOL...
Thank you for the suggestion, maybe it isn't so much an issue where you live. I find it, however, rude to have Fox News on every other channel when I'm working out. It's not just O'Reilly that bugs me, it's every single damned reporter on that station. Fox news stands for everything I am against. I'm going to try talking to the local gyms I go to here and see if they can't compromise and put on something different (at least on the screen in front of me while I'm there).
I really never understood why tv's are so popular at the gym in the first place. You're there to work out...

22. I spoke with a lady the other day who covers her head/face with a towel |
|
while she is on any of the machines - both weight and aerobic stuff. She said it isolates her from everything, and makes the workour easier. She has lost 40 pounds in four months, with a goal of 40 more.
This past Friday her partner sent her flowers to the gym. I told Miz O about this when I got home, and she said "aaawwwww, that's sweet."

I was talking about that above... those who watch the tv's so intently and read while working out sure must not get much of a workout.
