In His First Comments On The Gulf Coast Oil Spill, Cheney Criticizes Obama For A Lack Of Action

Since the Gulf Coast oil spill, former Vice President Cheney has been conspicuously silent. His refusal to speak out comes despite the fact that BP has hired his former press secretary to be the company spokesperson; his former company, Halliburton, is partially responsible for the rig explosion; and the disaster is being dubbed “Cheney’s Katrina” by many critics.

Yesterday, he gave his first speech since the April 20 disaster, addressing a largely friendly sold-out crowd of more than 1,200 people at the Manufacturer and Business Association convention in Erie, PA. While there’s no video of the full event because media were forced to leave five minutes into the one-hour speech, the NBC affiliate in Erie reports that at one point, Cheney did finally address the oil spill — by criticizing President Obama’s response to the disaster:

Cheney told the audience he is currently writing his memoirs. He also touched on President Obama’s performance in office.

He pointed to the President’s lack of action in the Gulf oil leak. He said Obama doesn’t have enough executive experience, or experience in Washington, to make things happen.

30. This would explain why stakes through the heart don't work...
Of course, it would take an electromagnet to find his heart, if such exists. Can you imagine the world-wide block party that will burst out spontaneously upon news of his demise?

A planetary festival unprecedented in recorded history. Any tears shed would be tears of joy. The intertubes would stream everything live from all the major cities on every continent.

Even the penguins would party down on whatever's left of the Antarctic ice. Polar bears would be exchanging high-fives and fist bumps and chest thumps on icebergs all across the brand new shipping channels of the Arctic Ocean.

In less developed countries, the word would go out by word of mouth, drummers would pound it out, even smoke signals might make a comeback. Modern Paul Reveres would ride like the wind from village to town to wide spot in the road proclaiming the news of the world-wide reprieve.

The only somber voices would be those of the hypocrite blowhards on US TV news, and even some of them couldn't keep straight faces for their entire time on camera.

Tens of millions would piss themselves because they had reached a state of gaga giddiness that prevented control of their bladders. Millions more would be laughing so hard that their gag reflexes kicked in and they actually puked in ecstasy.

I think that about covers it, except for the millions of church bells ringing out the uninhibited joy of the earth's entire population from every corner of the planet.

Oh, and my cats would probably nab a small defenseless rodent in celebration.
