Would-be Senator from Nevada in favor of outlawing alcohol, legislating morality

...

Exhibit A: An interview Angle gave in which she suggested she favors outlawing alcohol and supports legislating morality. This, in Nevada.

In an interview with Liberty Watch magazine, Angle expressed her opposition to legalizing marijuana, and added: "I feel the same about legalizing alcohol."

"The effect on society is so great that I'm just not a real proponent of legalizing any drug or encouraging any drug abuse," Angle said. "I'm elected by the people to protect, and I think that law should protect."

Asked whether legislating morality is appropriate, she added: "I don't think you can get away from that; people just make value judgments. We're not a neutral society. Politics, especially, are not neutral and no one can come to the table value-less or moral-less."

1. Bye, bye Sin City...
Where bars and clubs are open at all hours of the day, and home to the 3 foot tall margaritas. Oh, don't forget about "lonely" Pahrump where they still practice legal prostitution in all of Nye County.

7. This sounds like a case of teabaggers demonstrating their uncanny ability to pick losers
:patriot:

They don't even have to try. All they have to do is settle on something baggish about a candidate they like, and they'll vote her in. Then, before the dust is settled, they begin to actually see the wackjob they voted for. It's sort of like they pick their candidates wearing tea goggles, which they are forced to take off the day after the election when some nightmare quote comes out of the candidate's past or present to bite them on their fat asses.

3. I'm sure the casino owners will agree.
I actually agree with her observations on alcohol. The question is, of course, what can we actually do about it? Saying Thou Shalt Naught will only cause enterprising folks to say "Oh yeah? Watch me!" and create even more social problems than prohibition solves. (If only I had a historical example to point to!) I realize that prohibition has completely rid society of grass, crank, horse, crack, snow, angel dust, shrooms, E and glue fumes and with no social reprocussions like gigantic prison populations. Still I have misgivings about banning alcohol.

5. "I actually agree with her observations on alcohol"
You may not know this, but prohibiting alcohol has already been tried in the US.

It didn't work out well.

10. Did you stop reading at the end of that sentence?
I know it's been tried. I know it went as well as marijuana prohibition is going now.

12. Actually, yes.
I was so taken aback by that sentence that I did, in fact, react without reading the rest of your comment.

4. If memory serves me correctly, the people of Nevada get a nice
tax break because of the casino business in the state. Unless they are just really stupid, I can't imagine that they would vote for this lunatic.

6. If you take a look at what a heck of a lot of republicans
have been caught up in, over the last several years, I'd like to know just what Angle would consider moral and moral-less.

Should we all send her copies of the "Untouchables"?
