Can I get a little sympathy here in Barton's district?
Hey DU, I need some hugs. He's my Congress-cretin.

There are plenty of other congresscritters here in Texas that are just as stupid. Like Louie Goomer the Tumor to the north of us in Tyler, Ted Poe, John Cornhole, Ron Paul, etc.

Barton said that CO2 is harmless because it's in your Coke that you drink. Therefore it must be OK. I would sure like to put him in a bell jar full of CO2 to test that theory, and see how long he lasts.

He also said that "global warming was the biggest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people".

He doesn't represent me or my interests AT ALL. But oil money owns Texas. And we're not all idiots here.

 :grouphug: :patriot:

1. I'm sorry to hear that
I used to be in a really red district down south and I know what it's like to have no representation other than moronic representation.

7. Hey there, fellow Texan
I hear ya. My congress critter (Mac Thornberry) is just as obstinate and full of horse poo...

Actually, at this moment I'm listening to Barton explain to Tony Hayward that the well should "peter out real soon". In comparison, Mac Thornberry is a fucking genius.

9. There is nothing wrong with oil money if it is spent properly.
Years ago it was used to improve the universities in Texas. Today the oil men pay off politicians.

11. Yeah, I feel bad for any progressive in Texas.
Not your fault, but I find it hard to believe that people would elect clowns like this to represent them. Maybe the adverse cumulative results of hydrocarbons contaminating the water table down there.

My family lives in Texas, currently without bags over their heads. I admire them greatly. I myself live in VA where I'm suffering over Cooch & the Governor from Idiotville. Well, while we're burning off a ton of karma, my sympathies to y'all.

Kyl & McGramps are my senators and certainly don't represent me. I used to write them but they never respond and certainly don't care what I have to say.

Barton has provided us with the Maccacca moment of 2010.

Right now he is worth 10 Democratic Congressman.

I think you should take credit for sending the biggest idiot with the biggest mouth to Congress so that American People will not make the mistake of putting them in charge.

17. Proud third generation Democrat here.
My parental units were founders of the Harris County Democrats, along with Frankie Carter Randolph and Billie Carr. the Harris County Democrats were founded when all the local Democrats endorsed Eisenhower instead of Stevenson, and the progressives decided they had had enough.

They went to the 1958 state Democrat Convention and endorsed Henry B. Gonzalez for Governor.
They also said there were walk outs, rump conventions, and some old biddy hit Father over the head with her purse in the melee! Talk about the good old days!!

Dad was a union organizer for the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers back in the 30s and 40s.
That was in the bad old days before they had labor laws. If you showed up on a picket line at Crown Central Petroleum (known for strikes and lockouts) the cops or the company goons cracked your head open and you got your ass hauled to jail for asserting your civil rights. And Sophie Mandell had to bail everyone out of jail for $100. Nobody had $100, because that was more than a month's salary. Her husband was Arthur Mandell, who started the first labor law/personal injury firm in Houston, Mandell and Wright.

18. He allegedly represented me from 1995 to 2003.
I am proud to say that I voted against him four times. I sent him many letters that forced me to conclude that I agreed with him about virtually nothing and that he didn't really care what I thought. In 2002, I unwisely spent a little money exploring the possibility of running against him but, in the end, decided against it.

I deeply and truly sympathize with you. The DINO who represents me now votes my way 50% of the time, and, sadly, I must admit that my DINO is much better than Joe Barton.

23. My sympathies and admiration for you and your fellow Texas progressives -
I recently lived in the south for 7 years in a very conservative town. I literally gasped the first - and only - time I saw an Obama bumper sticker. It speaks highly of you that you go against the grain and think for yourselves, and care about doing the right thing. :pals:

24. Get this:I repainted my house in different colors, therefore I must be a MEXICAN!
Seriously. I am not kidding.

It had white siding and red brick wainscoting. Ugly aluminum awnings put on in the 50s. An old Gothic Bungalow. Circa 1882.

I got it repainted with baby blue on the siding and dark blue on the brick. And egg and dart crown molding in dark blue with touches of gold, light purple, dark purple, and bright green. I think it's beautiful.

Well, the folks in east Tex-Ass have NO imagination. Somebody asked my carpenter if "a bunch of Mexicans bought that house". It's been in my family for three generations. That's the same carpenter that told me I was not going to heaven if I worshiped Buddha and meditate. I corrected him on that misconception that I worshipped Buddha. Buddha was NOT a god, so he doesn't know what he's talking about.

He's a real idiot and scared to death of facts and knowledge. He can't stop his wife and kids from learning. We're sneaking them books. Seriously.

Time to put that taco stand and flea market on the south lot.

These people are so scared of anything different, it's not even funny.
