Dems already fundraising off Barton remark

Democrats are already seizing on Rep. Joe Barton's (R-Texas) apology to BP to raise funds from supporters.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) blasted out a fundraising e-mail pointing to Barton's comments as evidence the GOP is the party of Big Oil.

"This isn't from some backbencher. Republicans want to put Congressman Barton in charge of the entire Energy and Commerce committee!" DCCC Executive Director Jon Vogel wrote.

"It's clear that Republicans are counting on their corporate special interests like Big Oil to fuel them to what they hope will be a record breaking fundraising quarter — but this is a disgusting new low. Don't let Big Oil's backers claim the momentum."

The e-mail includes a link to donate to the Democrats' campaign fund.

There is local (NO -WWL) poll asking who should be ashamed.
Now, all day it was running 90% Barton. Once the righties found out about the poll, the have started to defend Barton. Again, this isn't the locals, as I say, it was running 90% to 10%.
We're all pissed off about it. Then, in the last hour or so, it was attacked by lunatic righties.


Texas Republican Joe Barton apologized to BP and said he's ashamed of the White House for "a $20 billion dollar shakedown." Are you ashamed of the White House or Barton?
