I just watched a story on the impending firing squad killing of the murderer, Ronnie Lee Gardner, who took the life of a defense attorney. They said that the shooters would each receive a commemorative coin for their duty in killing the murderer.

I'm gonna bet that if one gets on ebay, it'll go for $200, easy.

I'm also gonna bet that most humane people find a 'commemorative coin' disgusting...

Great use of tax dollars designing a coin for them - just fantastic.

And then there are the pins that represent participation in the execution of a condemned man.

But no pin will be issued to commemorate Ronnie Lee Gardner's execution, which is scheduled to occur June 18.

Instead, Corrections spokesman Steve Gehrke said, officials will create a special coin that will be presented to staff members who play any role in carrying out the execution.

"The staff preferred something a little more modern than the ribbons," Gehrke said. "Since people don't walk around displaying those anyway, we're switching to a coin."


I'm sure the NRA will want to re-commemorate it as a coin for their members. They love ribbons and coins to commemorate their cult groups.
