Keith Olbermann and David Shuster
Maybe it's I like hearing what they have to say I don't know. I expect to be seeing them as my news people for some time to come

1. Can you believe Schuster used to work for FOX NEWS?!?!?!
Well, it is easy to understand why he got out of there. What an excellent reporter

<snip>

Covering the Whitewater investigation of President Clinton for Fox News gave the Bloomington South graduate his first big exposure as a national television correspondent. He currently works on MSNBC's "Hardball With Chris Matthews" program and said he thoroughly enjoys spending most of his time in the nation's capital and reporting for what he considers "the show of record when it comes to coverage of Washington."

3. Actually, no. Keith worked for Fox Sports in 1999-2000.
David Shuster started working for Fox Noise while Clinton was still in office. Back then, it was fine and dandy to criticize the president and the administration. Then there was an election and something funny happened. Once the new president was selected, criticizing him and his administration was no longer acceptable. Shuster left.

4. I'm of two minds about SHUSTER's reporting.
On the one hand, I like that he quit Faux and has said critical things about it. And I like that he consistently points out the negatives about the Shrubbites.

On the other hand, back when we were waiting for KKKarl to be indicted, SHUSTER ran with this for weeks or a month, every night "reporting" that his "sources" were telling him it was going to happen within the next two weeks. He kept harping on his "sources CLOSE TO THE GRAND JURY PROCEEDINGS."

After it was over and nothing happened, he identified his "sources." These turned out to be LAWYERS who had had CLIENTS TESTIFY in front of (THIS?) grand jury (or just grand juries in general?).

Iow, it turned out that these "SOURCES" were actually nothing more than PUNDITS. They were not anybody who had ACTUAL ACCESS to Fitz's inner office, had NOT PHYSICALLY SEEN any ACTUAL DOCUMENTS, or anything else that was DIRECT or PRIMARY. They were GUESSING "based on their experience with grand juries."

I sent KO an e-mail complaining about this, but SHUSTER goes merrily along being featured with KO and Tweety. And I like him, but this is always in the back of my mind.

7. Fitz's office doesn't leak -- Schuster and other reporters had to rely on
those kinds of sources you descibed. Crappy I know, but I am proud that Fitz's office doesn't leak (Think Kenneth Starr)

I hope someday we know what happened with that Rove thing. I am guessing that Rove 'flipped' at some point and started giving info to Fitz.

8. Well, he went back to the grand jury 5 times
So, you'd think that during one of those times he had to realize that it was either him or Libby or Cheney or all three that were going to jail.

So, I agree, I think he did "flip" which is why he wasn't indicted before the '04 election.

9. Well, he DIDN'T HAVE to "rely on those kind of sources". If he didn't have a story
then there was nothing to REPORT. He could have said that. Or else not hidden behind the "close to the grand jury" label.

IF it had turned out that the indictment happened, SHUSTER would have been a BIG DEAL in journalism, and this would have obscured that his "sources" were only GUESSING/PUNDITTING.

I understand what you all are saying, but calling people SOURCES who are just passing OPINIONS don't sound kosher to me.
