Sean Hannity's idea of "great Americans" |
|
I was channel surfing between reruns of M*A*S*H and Frasier, and Fox News Channel. (I'm all about the laughs.)
Caught the "round-table" discussion at the end of Hannity's show. Interesting who Hannity thinks are "great Americans."
There was some woman that I didn't recognize. I think he said she was from the ridiculous, and unwatched, Fox Business Channel.
Representing the "liberal" viewpoint was former purported Democratic wunderkind, Pat Caddell, the past master of the infamous Jimmy Carter "malaise" speech, and current, tireless opponent of gay rights, and of everything liberal. I strongly suspect that the purportedly naive President Carter was hoodwinked all along about Caddell. Caddell cost Carter his re-election.
But guess who Hannity thought was the greatest American on his panel of "great Americans?"
It was none other than "Buddy" Cianci, the former Republican mayor of Providence, Rhode Island, who served four years in federal prison for racketeering, and who has known mafia affiliations.
Just saying. That's Sean Hannity's idea of "great Americans."

I think you have to at least be indicted to even be considered for the panel
or be a serial adulterer like Newt and Rudy

Come to think of it, that's right. Maybe Joran van Der Sloot can get a sloot. :)

6. Neither Hannity nor any of his ilk have served in the military or favor paying taxes, |
|
so, what makes them good Americans? What do they "do for their country", other than lend lip-service to being patriots?

16. Obama wasn't a war hawk who supported the Iraq War either. |
|
I find it repulsive how right wingers blindly support republican wars and sending our soldiers to die needlessly in countries which never threatened us. It's especially nauseating when a person is a war hawk but who never served himself or even received deferments to avoid serving using a technicality as Limbaugh, Cheney and most others in the right wing did. Even Bush got into a guard unit when it was impossible to get into one. There was a 3-4 year waiting list to get into the guard, but Bush went right to the front of the line because he used connections. I always wonder who died in Vietnam so that Bush could live and cause our nation so much harm.
Obama was against going to war in Iraq. It's okay to be against war and to have not served in the military. But I find it disgusting how cowards in the right wing sit behind microphones cheering on wars that kills innocent human beings as long as they are not putting their own lives on the line.
I am disappointed that Obama didn't order an immediate withdrawal, but that is hard to do and could have led to more carnage. I also thought it was a mistake to escalate the war in Afghanistan. But at least Obama isn't acting like the previous dunce president who told the enemy to 'Bring it on' defying them to kill our soldiers. Obama is taking a level headed approach but he is still listening to military leaders far too much. The military will always want wars to continue because that is how they get the most recognition. Promotions are much easier to get during wartime than during peacetime.

7. Notice how not one right wing radio host served in the military? |
|
Not one mutant right winger on the radio has served their country, but they were all frothing at the mouth to go to war against a country which never threatened us. And not one (non-felon) talking head on Fox News has ever served in the military either.
I did serve, but to them I am a commie, socialist, Marxist and anti-American. They think I am the enemy because I don't believe what they do.
And notice how every right winger claims to be a Christian, yet are always opposed to helping the poor or anyone? They don't have a problem sending the poor to die in their wars, but they don't want to help them if they fall on hard times.
NO ONE can be a practicing Christian and a conservative extremist at the same time. They are EXACT OPPOSITES...

15. Hi jgraz, read my post again. It specifically says 'non-felons' |
|
My post said all non-felons. North is a felon. So is G Gordon Liddy another darling of the right wing.
And I believe North is a traitor. While guest hosting on Rush Limbaugh's radio show in 1995 North said "If I knew of any harm that would come to the president I would do nothing to stop it". As both an American and a veteran I was appalled at North's traitorous comment. North was talking to an audience many who had their guns locked and loaded in their laps waiting for some cue from one of their 'leaders' to resort to violence.
I reported North's comments to the Secret Service, the FBI and the White House. I have no idea what happened, but I'm sure because of the political implications the Clinton administration wouldn't have done anything to North lest they provoke an even angrier backlash from the extreme right. But what North said was against the oath he took when he became a US Marine. And once a marine always a marine, so he violated that pledge by enticing others to bring harm to the president.
All the best...

17. Technically, North is not a felon |
|
That's not to say he hasn't engaged in felonious activities, but his convictions were thrown out.
He does well represent the scum that Faux chooses to represent itself.

18. Sorry, North was indicted on 16 felony counts, but as you said they were 'vacated'. |
|
From Wiki: "North was charged with (sixteen) felonies and convicted of three, but the convictions were later vacated, and the underlying charges dismissed due to the limited immunity agreement granted for his pre-trial public Congressional testimony about the affair."
So if it wasn't for political pressure and plea agreements prior to testimony his convictions would have been held up. I guess I consider him to be a felon because of he DID commit the felonies, but he got away with his crimes against our country due to technicalities. I don't believe you can equate 'vacated' with 'innocence'.
Yes, he is perfect for Faux Noise isn't he. It's amazing at the kind of people right wingers adore and admire.
Thanks for your clarification MajorChode!

20. Sadly, North is not the worst of the bunch |
|
G. Gordon Liddy is without a doubt one of the most evil political figures of my time, and I'm not using the word "evil" lightly here. Not only did Liddy follow the evil orders of his puppet masters, he actually came up with many of them on his own, including some that included the kidnapping and murder of anti-war protesters.
Faux has also allowed so called "experts" which have included white supremacists and other morally bankrupt individuals.
What's really ironic here is that North got off on a technicality with the help of the ACLU. I'm not sure if North himself has ever had anything bad to say about the ACLU, but certainly many of his contemporaries have.

10. Hannity tells his callers, "You're a great American" |
|
For all Hannity knew his callers could be mass murderers, rapists, thieves or even in prison but if they call his freak radio show he tells them "You're a great American". It's sickening. It's also sickening how his callers tell Hannity he is a 'great American' when the thug is so cowardly he cuts off people, talks over them and then when they are off the air he goes on tirades against them when they can't defend themselves. How can anyone think Hannity is a great American when he makes a living lying about others? He's also a coward because he supported both of Bush's wars, but he never served himself. It's okay to cowardly thugs like Hannity to send our soldiers to be mutilated or killed in countries which never threatened us.
BTW, I have sent many challenges to Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck and others to debate me on the air but they all cowardly ran from my challenges. Hell, I didn't even get a response. Even though they have years of experience behind a microphone, would be surrounded by people feeding them information and be in the friendly confines of their dark studios they were all still terrified to debate me. I told each one I was a veteran with no experience in the media and that they would have every advantage but they all cowardly rejected my challenges. All I would be armed with would be the truth, but they have no intention of being debated and have the truth told to them. They each have total control over their shows and that is one of the ways they manipulate what is allowed to be said on their freak shows and hatred.
