have any of you guys heard the rumor that...
Dave Petraeus might run for president as either an R or an Indy? If he runs, it won't matter what party he runs from because he would be Obama's biggest challenger because A. of his military expertise
and B. ability to win votes in the northeast.

1. We've already seen him pass out...
You can't have "honeymoon" feelings for someone you've seen lose their wits.

23. Better than "The Dean Scream"
I'm starting to wonder about a few Democrats who are "speaking out" against Obama right now... I'm waiting for the "run rumors" for Kerry.

7. Are you kidding? Domestic concerns are the main issue for the next election.
Even if Petraeus is well regarded, he's famous for being associated with a war that Americans have not exactly found to be glorious.

It would be like General Westmoreland running for President in 1976 based on his military record.

Petraeus has no profile on domestic issues, economy, cultural issues which is fitting for his current position but not for someone running for President.

He'd have to resign his commission, oh, say about a year ago, in order to set up a campaign and fundraising apparatus and start laying the groundwork on domestic issues to justify a run. No way he could do that as an active duty officer serving under his opponent.

He has no time to do all that.

Plus, and most importantly, the country is not clamoring for a general in 2010-2012. It's not the pressing need.

9. Never happen.
He wouldn't get past Iowa as a Republican candidate, and if he ran as an I, wouldn't get enough donated money to buy a bus ticket, let alone lease a campaign plane.

He is going to step down and retire as soon as he feels the Afghan situation is closer to being under control, until then, he will be a good soldier and do as his CiC asks him.

19. Yes
I have heard that he is definitely being 'groomed' for a run on the Republican ticket. I wouldn't be surprised to see his wimpy face more in the months ahead. Let's just hope he keeps fainting when faced with softball questions.

and I also wouldn't see him playing second fiddle, especially to Palin (or someone equally stooopid)

31. Your reasoning is all completely messed up.
A. His military will NOT be an asset EVER. He presided over a war that was the WRONG war.

B. Why would he win any votes in the NE?? There is NO LIEberman effect in the Northeast.

C. boy4 is that you?

D. He has absolutely no policy positions.
