GOP panel says Idaho needs to form state militia
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Could Idaho get an all-volunteer state militia that's out from under any federal control?

A Butte County delegate to the state Republican Party convention in Idaho Falls on Friday got his compatriots on a committee to go along with the plan - at least on paper.

The idea must still win full convention approval Saturday.

Butte County delegate Guy Mongan says such a force could assist in the event of natural disasters and wouldn't be subject to a military call-up, such like the Idaho National Guard.

1. Good for them. And since the constitution says
the president of the United States will be the commander of ALL state militias, it looks like President Obama will have more military to supervise. Now isn't that nice. Bet all these idiots and their MILITIA IDEAS don't know that.

2. How does it become a "State" Militia?
Does the Governor have to request the formation and how then would it differ from the Guard? If it is not recognized and formed by the State it is just a bunch of armed guys playing army..
