women who behave rarely make history |
|
i saw this as a bumpersticker on a suv at the country club here in texas.
wtf are they saying. who would have that on a vehicle, a man or woman.
clear it up for me, because i might find out whose it is and go after them.

14. Many suffragette leaders were Mormon |
|
even though some movement leaders shunned Mormon women. There's a strong history of progressivism within it despite Utah's descent into conservatism. It's a religion full of contradictions.

27. My very Mormon great grandma was a Suffragette. |
|
We were going through her things one day, and found some old piano sheet music of a Suffragette campaign tune called "Be In It, And Win It!". I'll scan it some time and post the pic.

big differences - like suffragettes.

would still be barefoot and pregnant.

Why aren't we? Because brave women before us chose to NOT "behave."

|
behave is what is throwing me off. dont get the behave. i have a moral code and follow it, but would never see it as behave.
is it saying ordinary woman that do their job and an influence in this society dont make history?

geez, why would this be so hard for me to wrap mind around, and i know it isn't for others. i must have lived in this area TOO long and being conditioned by this attitude.
so, making history is a good thing. saying, only to not conform will make history, and really.... sticker was being snarky telling us not to behave.
bah hahahah
thanks for your patience

16. It's actually "well behaved women rarely make history" |
|
I means that if you do what society wants you to (in essence "behave"), you will not rise to the heights of success and/or fame that are required to "go down in history".

Its been around for a long time but so have I.
I guess my assumptions about what women know about their own history needs to be dramatically adjusted.
I am curious - how old are you?
