Excuse me but does the GOM beach, the water and sky above belong to BP? |
|
Last I checked, Louisiana, Florida, and Mississippi belonged to the UNITED STATES.
WHAT gives them the authority to block people - including media - out - in ANY circumstance? BRITISH petroleum is British, not American. They came over here and stupidly drilled a hole into the center of the earth to get at the oil (which they ALSO DO NOT OWN) and they f*cked it up. They have destroyed the water, sand, wildlife, lives of the coasts of THREE STATES in this country. The rest of this country (and those living down there especially for that matter) DESERVE and have EVERY right to know what the hell is going on and what the hell can and is being done to somehow fix this mess.
But somehow...somehow, this passel of jackasses has the AUTHORITY to claim control and ownership of all the water, land, and air they've destroyed. No one gets in. No one gets photos. No one gets the truth.
We get silence or lies either from BeePee or the media.
:wtf:

Oh, make that FOUR states - Florida isn't doing all that well... I wonder how the Apalachicola oyster beds are faring. And Port St Joe. And St. George Island.
(oops -sorry I didn't read carefully - you missed Alabama, not FLA)

...that presides over this country - including those states, which belong to this country. Where are they?
Perhaps instead of sending troops into Afghanistan, we need to send them to the GOM to ensure that media are allowed in and to ensure that the TRUTH gets told about what's going on. If BP tries to stop the media or the masses from knowing the truth - the troops stop BP.
Would be a better us of our military, IMO. BP is a foreign company that has destroyed and then occupied our Gulf Coast. It's justified.

14. All 4 states can call up their NG, thousands of people. |
|
But each has chosen not to. I guess only the governors know why, but it doesn't make any sense when people are saying send in the troops.

2. THEIR OIL RIG belongs to them. Their ill-advised pipeline, well..... |
|
...or whatever the Hell you call it belongs to them.
THAT IS ALL. The REST IS OURS! And they've destroyed it. And they have the audacity to say "no you can't know what's going on. You can't come here, fly here, take pictures here..."
That's like someone murdering your family and the crooks and the authorities banding together to disallow your coming to their funeral, disallow your effort in getting justice for their killers - blocking you out and your being told "sorry, the murderers own your family now and they will be disposing of the bodies themselves, move on".

6. the BP oil spill = Depression |
|
I fear the BP spill is just one more factor that will lead our country to major economic downfall. Krugman already sees we could be entering a 3rd Great Depression soon: http://www.wallstmemo.com/wallstmemo/2010/06/guru-insight-krugman-fears-we-may-be-on-verge-of-3rd-depression.html

And wonder how they can even enforce their crap. It's hundreds of miles and from what I've read it seems no one is doing anything much anyway. If they wanted to control their public relations they'd at least show film of all their hard work. But since they don't then maybe they aren't doing enough to even do that.

17. 'course. Sorry I left that out. I used to live there |

Gulf Shores/Foley. Went to New Orleans and Pensacola FL a lot. I didn't care for the political climate but those beaches and that water were gorgeous! I used to fly small planes onto Dauphin Isle and around the coastline. It's all destroyed now. :(

escort them to the beach and wherever else they need to go? Since BP has no legal right to stop them it could be interesting.

13. The spill area is toxic |
|
BP is keeping people out because they don't want any more lawsuits. They are trying to keep aerial photographers out simply because they don't want us (and the world) to know how bad it is. Apparently they forgot about the satellite cameras.
