WASHINGTON - President Bush helped raise $10.5 million for the national Republican Party at its annual gala on Thursday night, the smallest take in years for the event that came only months after the GOP lost control of both houses of Congress.

The Republican National Committee's spring fundraising gala hosted by the president raised $17 million last year, $15 million in 2005 and $14 million in 2003. When Bush was seeking re-election to the White House in 2004, the dinner brought in a record $38.5 million.

9. I just added BOTH.
More would mean what? Fill in the blanks? I think BOTH is enough. What else could possibly explain him?

However, I will vote both.

12. No vote; he's toxic whatever he's doing, and why the hell anyone,
at this point in the blivet's 'career', would shell out money for support, is totally beyond me.

13. Drunk not insane
If he were truly insane he would not be doing such an outstanding job for Big Oil, Big Pharmaceutical and Big Weapons companies.

He is playing his part exactly as scripted. They are getting their moneys worth out of him, an insane person could not do that as well as bush.

It is fun to poke light at this "buffoon"...he likes it when we think of him this way, it is the very image he wants you to see. Just another example of how calculating this monster really is. He needs the numbers 666 burned into that forehead. He'd have to abandon the clown image then.

17. I wanted to say something snarky, but the pictures, the body
language, (I didn't hear the "speech", so I won't comment on that), make me seriously wonder about his sanity.

I've thought for quite some time that he is teetering on the edge, w/o some #'s to "prove" support, people like bush tend to just lose it. I thought for a long time he might be a sociopath, but now I am looking past that, and seeing behaviors that show me his forced to face reality, and most sociopaths don't relate well to reality because it has emotions attached.

bush has some serious problems, that is for sure, but his entire life has been an illusion. In everything, he has screwed up, he knows it, and when one goes from 90+ approval to 28%, this has to have a serious effect on his mental health. Add to that powerful R's coming to speak to him "candidly", and arguably the "best and brightest " of his administration leaving in droves, has to make an impression. He knows he is beaten and in a corner, but he can't think of a way to get out.

What I see is an individual that never grew into adulthood. He is now forced into realizing that he was actually placed in the position as opposed to earning it himself. His delusion is that he believes he is the "savior" of the nation, but he has suddenly realized that he has done what he's always done, mess things up. The powers that be are going to take him down a peg, and I can almost see resignation in the relatively near future...the others options seem to be off the table, and I am not in favor of anything else but resignation, as that would be the ultimate denigration for the would be king.

Impeachment/trial, and leaving him in office are both bad ideas...there is another option, but that is sordid and horrendous, not an option in my book, at all...x(

25. You missed drugged up as an option
Drunk is too easily noticeable, but drugs can get you the same effect without the ugly side effects. You know... the smell... the vomiting... Drunk is too difficult to hide.

Just saying, if I was one of his handlers and I knew he might be leaning toward hitting the bottle again (and God knows after the mess he's left if I was president I would be too) I'd direct him toward pharmaceuticals instead. Much less messy, and more legal than coke, just ask Rush.

27. Minority report: neither of the above
Just an arrogant, dimwitted, stuck-up, privileged frat boy.

Always was, always will be.

To be insane, you have to have had a mind to lose in the first place.
