Insanity in tomorrow's LTTE
Someone wrote a letter to our paper saying Walt Minnick isn't a conservative because "we wouldn't have to worry about a conservative voting to confirm Nancy Kagan to the Supreme Court." (Yes, she did this on purpose, trying to equate Kagan with Pelosi. It's pretty common here--we've got candidates for state-level and county-level offices running against Nancy Pelosi.)

Uhh...while I thoroughly understand the point--when you're an R you're an R all the way, from your first cigarette to your last dying day--we don't have to worry about Minnick voting to confirm Elena Kagan because he's in the wrong end of the building.

1. that really is stupid.........
I mean, if they want to slam Pelosi, why don't they say that? By saying Nancy Kagan, it just makes them look like they don't know what they're talking about.......

4. Ain't that the truth
I really think she's more of their Newt. You'll remember he was kind of a lightning rod for liberal anger; the difference between Gingrich and Pelosi is Gingrich was a dangerous demagogue who so tightly controlled his flock they had to vote against really trivial shit--voting against accepting the previous day's business into the Congressional Record was always popular--to prove they didn't vote in lockstep with Newtie. (Of course, on the really substantive things they did vote in lockstep.) OTOH, Pelosi is a catherder, and not all that good of one.
