Remember when the Right ridiculed us during "Global Warming" snowstorm?
Edited on Sun Jul-11-10 05:12 PM by louis c
I know the facts. That snow is actually consistent with "climate change". But still, when I went to work, the jerks who get their "facts" from Rush, Hannity, Beck, et al, couldn't wait to ridicule those of us who know that fossil fuel is a poor choice of energy. That was even before the spill. Put aside that it usually snows in the Winter, anyway

Here's my point. Now that the Summer is here, sweltering, record setting heat waves are raging across the entire Mid-West and North-East. Temperatures in the 100's are common in Philly, Boston, New York and Washington. Where's the Drudge Report now? Oh, I get it, it's usually hot in the Summer, but when it snows in the Winter, that's a big deal.

We can not measure "Climate Change" or "Global Warming" anecdotally. But because we know that, we never resort to the cheap tricks the Fox News gang does. However, that's why they convince the ill-informed. Unfortunately for us, I'm afraid that may be the majority.

Here you go. Perhaps Boston 100 is not common, but the other cities had a heat wave where 100 was hit over several days in a row. Boston and surrounding cities did hit 100 on July 6. Here's your link:

12. I seem to recall at least one good heatwave every year I lived in the north east.
No-one is saying 100 degrees is the average daily high but the city is an island of heat usually 10 degrees hotter than the surrounding countryside.

13. Cities create their own heat that's why the official temps are usually recorded
at airports.

And yes we get one good heatwave every year,in the summer. Now if this was January we would have something to talk about.

14. So it's not global warming until it's 100 F in January in Boston?
You're setting the bar pretty high.

17. Common was for the week in 4 cities in OP
Edited on Mon Jul-12-10 07:01 AM by louis c
I'm sorry, the high nineties, as reported in the link doesn't qualify as common for Boston. But the response is right, some people won't get the point until it's 100 in Boston in January.
