WP: "House Democrats hit boiling point over perceived lack of White House support"
House Democrats are lashing out at the White House, venting long-suppressed anger over what they see as President Obama's lukewarm efforts to help them win reelection -- and accusing administration officials of undermining the party's chances of retaining the majority in November's midterm elections.

In recent weeks, a widespread belief has taken hold among Democratic House members that they have dutifully gone along with the White House on politically risky issues -- including the stimulus plan, the health-care overhaul and climate change -- without seeing much, if anything, in return. Many of them are angry that Obama has actively campaigned for Democratic Senate candidates but has done fewer events for House members.

The boiling point came Tuesday night during a closed-door meeting of House Democrats in the Capitol. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) excoriated White House press secretary Robert Gibbs's public comments over the weekend that the House majority was in doubt and that it would take "strong campaigns by Democrats" to avert dramatic losses.

This is the last thing we need - internal bickering.

We must consider for just a moment that President Obama's popularity isn't so hot right now, so his campaigning with a Congressional candidate could do more harm for that person than good. Or so the media would have us believe.

3. Hey, maybe if they hadn't fought him tooth-and-nail on their goddamn agenda every step of the way
this wouldn't have happened.

Maybe if Congress stopped trying to accommodate the damn Blue Dogs and instead pushed for BETTER legislation instead of worse this wouldn't happen.

As far as I'm concerned Obama should hang Congress out to dry.

6. Really? Could you detail some of the ways the House (which the OP is about)
fought the administration "tooth-and-nail" on the adinistration's agenda "every step of the way"?

9. you confuse the house with the senate. the house has about
295 bills sitting in limbo waiting for the dipshits in the senate to act. he deserves this anger.

11. What are you talking about? As deficient as the House is, it was that body that made every attempt
to add some liberalism in the thoroughly conservative agenda he has pushed, from continuing The Grand Bailout, to taking single payer off the agenda entirely. He set the agenda and then fought to make it palatable for conservatives and failed to get one single vote anyway.

7. They have some damn nerve...
I sat and watch and waited and emailed these scary ass, backing down, crybaby, lying ass,Dems who did nothing right after Obama won. Anyone who has been watching repugs know what they are about and if they were paying attention they would have seen the how no one was holding Bush accountable while he was still in office in the months before inauguration.

Then after he was sworn in all of the bluedog/republiCONS start show up and showing out. THen the teabaggers started showing up at the townhalls and I asked where are the Dems? Then I watch the media and how they were using rightwing talking points and the Dems sent out scary ass crybaby Dems to fight back as they sat there and apologized and backed down and I kept saying WHERE IN THE HELL ARE THE DEMS!!

Now they are playing into the rightwing bullshit again now the repugs show up complaining about SPENDING and the media and the Dems let them get away with it when they should call them out. The main thing is that they seem to be scared to tell their constituents the damn TRUTH because they are AFRAID!

Tell me how can you run a country without spending, they spend but it only only bullshit and WARS but when there is an emergency for WE THE PEOPLE and OUR MONEY there is always a problem.

Another bunch of bull...I still believe that we are getting another set of BLUEDOGS where are the YELLOW DOGS or Dems who fight for the working people, for people to work, the poor,elderly,disabled,unemployed,homeless,etc..

14. More DLC game-playing in the White House . . .???
Edited on Thu Jul-15-10 10:56 AM by defendandprotect
Pelosi and others are right -- and we should all be paying attention to

what's going on here --

and accusing administration officials of undermining the party's chances of retaining the majority in November's midterm elections.

The Gibbs' comments brought it to light -- but Pelosi was on this weeks ago -- !!

Either we understand corporate co-option of the party or we don't -- ?

Which is it?

the lady has a legitimate point. Perhaps the WH is more concerned with the WH than the people's house (congress).
