Harry Reid: Republicans Want Economy To Tank So Democrats Will Be Battered In Midterms
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said on Wednesday that Republicans want the economy to tank and hope jobs legislation fails so that Democrats will lose the midterm elections.

"They're betting on failure," Reid said of Republicans at a press conference Wednesday focused on measures to help small businesses. "They think that the worse the economy is come November, the better they are going to do election-wise."

Reid says the Republican approach "was indicated very loudly in the health care bill when one Republican Senator said that he wanted this to be Obama's Waterloo -- another Senator said he hoped somebody died during the night so that we couldn't get our 60 votes."

Whether the small business jobs bill passes is in the hands of the Republican party, said Reid, and so far negotiations have been strained.

Yep. Defeating the job's bill and failing to extend unemployment will tank the economy and the Republicans are counting on that to win seats for them.

8. Even if a bit late, this is a very good talking point.. mostly because its true..
Voters need to hear this over and over from everyone in the party because rightwing media is endlessly bashing Obama and the Dems for not getting things done and at the same time glorifying the opstructionist Rethugs.

9. yep, that is the one to go on.
All the obstruction, and many other things are not about helping America, but about trashing it hoping the Democrats get blamed.

10. The Washington Post (imagine that)
have an article that says the companies are sitting on a boat load of cash but won't add jobs. Of course they are. They don't want it to be beneficial to the Democrats so they can get their buddies the republicans back in.

12. Despite being in the majority in both houses of Congress, despite having a Dem in the WH
Reid is continuing to blame 'Pugs for what's happening.

Whatever happened to taking responsibility for one's actions, or lack thereof.

Yes, the 'Pugs probably do want the economy to tank for political reasons. How about actually stepping up to the plate and fighting them? Isn't that what we gave the Dems all that power in '08?

Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

13. Don't let the obvious bite you in the ass, Harry...
So this weak, ineffectual little man finally figures the whole thing out? Wow... what a stunning moment of realization that must have been.

A few years late, but then nobody ever accused Harry of being particularly bright or courageous when dealing with the obstructionist party.

16. It is my belief that when one works against the best interests of this country
they are a traitor and should be tried for Treason

These people have taken an oath to the Constitution, to uphold it.
They never fail to say that they believe strongly in the Constitution
but at the same time they border on treasonous crimes.

17. Right. Time to push that red button, Senator. Use the "nuclear option".
You have no other recourse other than permitting republicans to do further irreparable damage to our country at will.
