And it isn't even basketball season!
I remember going on vacation to Massachusetts one year and the difference in the obesity rate between there and here in KY was OBVIOUS to me very quickly. Here it seems nearly everyone you see is overweight, and a large number are obese. I have noticed that in our neighboring states as well, as is shown on the list. I was thinking just yesterday, when I was walking to my car behind a thin older woman, that when I was in college seeing thin older ladies was nothing unusual. Now at 46 I am considered thin by many, when 25 years ago I would have been considered "busty" or "big boned" at my stature (not overweight, but not small built). Now if a person doesn't have noticeable flab hanging out they are considered thin or even skinny. People ask me how I stay so "thin", when in fact I am at about the median range, if not a little above median, on the weight chart for my height. I just get regular exercise and try to eat real food instead of fast food. I can't imagine that genetics have changed so much since I was a young girl that now I am simply blessed by good genes that so many others don't have to be normal sized at middle age.
