GURNEE, Ill. – Police said authorities at Six Flags Great America ejected two off-duty employees from the theme park after they allegedly attacked a female colleague dressed as "Porky Pig." Gurnee Police Sgt. Jon Ward says two young men took a photo with Porky on Monday afternoon, and then punched the mascot in the head 10 to 15 times.

Ward said park security detained the men until police arrived. He said the men wereissued local ordinance citations for battery.

He said the suspects denied the attack, but witnesses confirmed the story.

The 24-year-old woman inside the mascot costume suffered headaches and a stiff neck.

2. ''Porky! What's the frequency?''
And they hopped in their yellow cab, leaned out the window and shouted, "Th-th-th-that's all folks!"

3. Joined just to put this here...
I am a regular visitor to Great America (hell, I work there too), and I just have to say that this is usual. I have to call security about every week because of ornery customers and general a-holes. But I still love Great America! Rest in peace, Deja Vu (2001-2007), Splashwater Falls (1985-2007), and Space Shuttle America (1994-2007/2009)!

7. This is a weird story, but why is it being treated as amusing?
It was an assault. The victim will be lucky if the headaches and stiff neck get better without long-term effect.

Some jerk will now tell me to lighten up. Jerks abound on DU, unfortunately.

This isn't funny. It's actually quite appalling.

Six Flags fires workers who attacked 'Porky Pig'

July 15, 2010
Sun-Times Media

Two Six Flags Great America employees have been fired after allegedly attacking a female employee dressed as "Porky Pig" at the theme park.

Taras Sikalchuk, 20, and Dmytro Petrychenko, 19, both of Waukegan, were fired after the incident, with all park privileges revoked, according to Great America spokeswoman Meredith Kelleher.

The park abides by a guest code of conduct, which the two "clearly violated," she said Wednesday.

The pair took a photo with the woman in the mascot suit about 2:20 p.m. Monday, then punched her in the head 10 to 15 times, Gurnee police said.

Both men were visiting the park on their day off, police Sgt. Jon Ward said. Park security detained them and police responded about 4:30 p.m.

The 24-year-old woman inside the costume suffered headaches and a stiff neck, but did not require hospitalization, Ward said.

Sikalchuk and Petrychenko were issued local ordinance citations for battery and ejected from the park, Ward said. The suspects denied the attack, but witnesses confirmed it, police said.

Ward said Great America mascots are accompanied by a security guard and attacks happen once or twice a year.

17. Even worse actually
Men beat up woman for no reason while she is wearing a heavy, cumbersome costume which inhibits her vision, movement and hearing. The safety policies which are generally attached to such character suits always involve a security escort or escorts, always, because anyone wearing such a costume is bereft of the most basic forms of defense, such as seeing what is coming at you. Even the most capable man or woman trained in self defense is made into a giant, cartoon sack of vulnerability by those things.
