The Friday Afternoon Challenge Question...on Thursday this week!
Edited on Thu Jul-15-10 04:33 PM by CTyankee
Back to Fridays next week but I'm away tomorrow...

Here's your oblique challenge:

"Well, I guess I'd rather be here than in a park somewhere..." What's going on?

24. It's nice of you to enlarge the photo, but I wish I could have a closer look at the face.
From the long view, this statue looks a little bit familiar. I don't know why. But in the original post, a profile, it doesn't.

Does the identity of the statue have anything to do with the answer?

38. Brava, TriMera! You have won the Challenge this week!
Did you know it or Google it? I'm amazed it took so long...

A sculpture of Ernest Hemingway in the Hemingway Bar of the Cafe Iruna in Pamplona, Spain. The bar is in an old, sedate hotel on the main plaza in Pamplona. When I visited there, I was expecting a little backwater town but found it to be very affluent, the people well dressed. Not at all what I expected, but then all I had ever seen of Pamplona was that street that the bulls run down on their way to the bullring (and their deaths). I didn’t go to any bullfights when I was in Spain...

42. I kinda figured this would happen since once you got the idea that it was Hemingway and
a statue, there were only so many so all you had to do is eliminate them one by one...

It's such a funny feeling, going into the bar and seeing this lifesize statue of Hemingway standing there...

No wonder he loved Pamplona...what a great town...
