Wierd. Right wing pig Brown votes with Collins and Snowe to allow financial |
|
regulation bill to move to a vote, and is going against his teabagger base. It seems he is a dead man with the republican base after this vote.

2. Perhaps he'll stand down in '12 and seek the governorship |
|
Moderate 'Pugs seem to be electable to that office in MA.

11. NO, the Governor's race is in 2010, and is for a four year term! |
|
Sorry.
He's going to have Mike Capuano running against him in 2012, with the support of all OTHER Dem Congressmen, and lots of Dem $ from out of state.
Vicki Kennedy and family will make him look like a grave robber.
He's dead in 2013, politically, in Mass.

3. Um isn't right wing pig Brown already proving himself to be fairly moderate? |
|
http://www.votesmart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=18919He voted with us on the jobs bill and he was a yes vote on the finance bill in May. Maybe we could reserve our insults for the traditional scummy Republicans who love the whole lockstep thing....

4. He's positioning himself as "acceptable" for re-election |
|
MA Dems better be very careful who they select to run against him.. I think he could be re-elected..People are lazy and if the see him as doing an okay job, they might vote for him.. People like eye-candy.

14. He could bleach his hair and change his name to Crist |
|
Then run as an independent. That seems to be acceptable to some Democratic voters.
If the Tea Party continues to implode, guys like Brown and Crist will have futures in the Republican Party. If the GOP keeps swinging to the right, they will be able to appeal to Democrats. They can't go wrong with this approach, it seems.

5. He got what he needed out of the Tea Baggers |
|
Now that they've voted for Brown, he seems to be done with them. And he can't count on the Massachusetts Democrats to run an incompetent candidate against him every time, so he's going to have to burnish those "moderate" credentials.

6. BUT he knows MA is basically Democratic and he has |
|
to keep them happy to get re-elected. The people in MA won't go for another republican. And they might keep this guy in if he does the job. He can not under any circumstances be too tea bag or republican.

as a token Rethug Senator... we have plenty of other people who can do better than him.

8. He used the teabaggers to put him over the top. |
|
They are too small of a group for him to pander to them exclusively.
If he position himself as a moderate he just might be able to keep his seat.
If he has the support of the baggers and nobody else (roughly 5% of the population then he will lose in a landslide.

9. I don't think this will help him unless the Democrats in MA are stupid... |
|
...which may be possible in 2012 - we will see. He can be defeated by a competent Democrat, and I'm sure there are may to choose from.

|
Dozens of smarter Dems in Mass.... and Mass Dems don't want him around in 2013.
They learned their lesson. Don't use a controversial liberal woman to run against Repubs.

17. He doesn't have a "teabagger base." He was elected in Massachusetts. |
|
He would lose horribly there if he appealed to the Tea Party. The fact that they cheered his election doesn't mean that he represents them.

18. If all Republicans were like Senator Brown they'd be less of a problem. |
|
At the very least, he has the stones to stand up to his party once in a while. That's rare for a Republican. Still, he's occupying Ted Kennedy's seat; rightly, there ought to be a real liberal sitting there.
