Virginia screws the unemployed
Okay, get this. Up until January 2010, Virginia allowed you to receive unemployment as well as social security. My husband was laid off because of a 're-organization' which meant they were getting rid of the older employees. We had expected him to work for another 4 - 5 years but when this happened he applied for early social security. When he applied for unemployment (because he still wanted to work and we needed him to work) they said, no problem. In Virginia you can collect unemployment and social security. He asked them every time he had to renew his application. Each time the answer was the same.

So, the Republican assholes change that law in January, but the Unemployment Board continues to send out checks. Now they want it back. Seriously? Where is it supposed to come from? There are no jobs to be had and his social security was less than half of his take home pay. And of course my State Senator is a fucking Republican and my State Delegate is an 'Independent' which means a Republican in the closet.

Assholes!

2. Yeah, I always laughed when I heard that VA was a purple state.
That's a total lie. It's red as hell, except for a small pocket in NoVA, and let's not forget it. I can hardly wait to get out of this place.

4. I talked to Tom Periello's office
today and of course there's nothing they can do because it's a state issue, but we had a good laugh over how rare it is to find another Democrat or liberal in my area. Red all the way, including the necks.

3. Yes, tell me about it.
If all of my family wasn't here I think I would look to move.
