Gawd! I finally fixed this otherwise-great Toshiba Satellite A355 laptop - maybe.
I had the cursor-skip curse. It would take me forever to compose a post for DU. It was maddening.

I had this problem when the computer was new last year. Jim in Bangalore helped me adjust the "tapping" on the touchpad. But I never use the touchpad - ever. I always use a mouse.

Today, Bob in Bangalore told me that my computer was out of warranty so any info would be $35. I told him (like I recently told Toyota) that the problem was a pre-existing condition - well documented - that had not been adequately fixed last year.

Well yes - Bob in Bangalore said, and agreed that the fix should be free.

So Bob in Bangalore helped me disable the touchpad (simple, really (Fn+F9)), and that fixed the problem. Now I am a happy lookout, typing fast, the way God meant it to be!

1. My dear DemoTex!
I'm really glad to hear this! There's almost nothing as frustrating as a bit of technology that won't work....AFTER you've become accustomed to using the damn thing.

I didn't know that God knew anything about computers! :P

2. Well - I had said "GOD-DAMNED COMPUTER" so much lately ..
That I figured God was tied in to the IT industry.

3. Good to see you here.
I always feel better when a good guy comes to Oregon.

Even if he needs help from Bangalore.

:)

6. A good reminder that Bob in Bangalore is as much one of us as
Al in Astoria. Finding half a chance to get out of the shackles the corporatist monsters impose, he finds a way to be one person helping another. If ever stuck with some other buggy stuff, remember DU has a Computer Help Forum also, http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=242 ,
