I just finished reading an excellent piece on the Hangzhou UFO at a great website called
Forgetomori. From footwork by a number of people around the world, it has become apparent that
none of the images (save possibly one, and even that is in question) are of the object which closed down the airport in Hangzhou.
They are
all the product of news organizations grabbing pictures or video of events which
they believe depict something like what shut down the airport at Hangzhou.
I noticed in at least one of the two initial threads there were arguments back and forth between people about whether it looked more like a "UFO" or a rocket. They were both right. Those who thought it looked like a rocket were looking at the video which MSNBC, IIRC, posted. Those who were seeing the alleged stills were looking at something definitely more UFO looking.
The piece linked at the top of my message is a sweet bit of investigative journalism which I just don't see much of now days. Sure, it's just about a UFO. But the author did some great digging and he got to the bottom of the mystery of the day. He tracks down every one of the images, IIRC, and shows where they came from.
We should be so lucky if this guy ever turns that sort of attention to detail to more important topics.
And it's also a reminder of how full of shit the media can be.
