Love most of what Ed Schultz says and does, but I really wish he would find some |
|
way of discussing issues other than the stage-managed pissing contests which seem to be a daily staple now. These feature a Democrat who totally agrees with Ed and an abrasive and over-the-top Republican. These two take turns smirking and talking over each other in a totally predictable "conflict" which seldom sheds any light on the subject at hand.
And, then, there are the "polls": "Do you think it is a good thing that crude oil is no longer spewing into the Gulf of Mexico? Tell us what YOU think!"
I haven't heard such unabashed pandering since Lou Dobbs closed up his shop.

1. I like Ed, too, but his "polls" are stupid. |
|
They're silly, tendentious push polls that always give him the results he wants. It's dishonest, whether done by conservatives or liberals.

7. Yeah, I find the polls pretty lame too. There could be better polls and more |
|
informative IMO. One already knows how the polls will end up just by the questions.

6. The one thing about Ed |
|
He is consistent. Ed has an audience, not only progressives, moderates but he also has repukes in his audience. Ed is also for the working people, the middle class and I am not going to throw him under the bus.

8. I like Ed too! I also think he has the conviction of what he talks about. I always |
|
feel like he's for us, the ones that want a fair deal for the majority of citizens, as well as, those left out.

12. Why mention that you are "not going to throw him under the bus? |
|
Who even implied such a thing?
Ed is one of the most consistently bread-and-butter liberals on the air. I just wish he (or MSNBC) would convey his message in a more "adult" way.

I have had my personal issues with Ed, but he is a power for progressive changes and to me that is more important than anything else.

18. I thought the polls were supposed to have a tongue-in-cheek flavor |
|
I like thinking of them that way at least! I also can't help liking Schultz; he is good at what he does and he does understand what sexism is and it really seems to piss him off, which is appealing.

It's great to have a populist stand up for "middle American values."
I think that's important...

he gives the Democrats what they need - an honest regular guy who shoots straight and tells it like it is. He's a forceful voice who says what needs to be said. I'm glad he's on MSNBC. We need more commentators like him - people from the Midwest and South that appeal to average everyday folk. I'm thinking of Texas' Jim Hightower as well - people in that mold.

19. I really like Ed also...I think the public has grown accustomed to this kind of discussion |
|
For some reason this kind of "show" has sales appeal to many viewers. That's one of the reasons they do it. --A totally unrelated matter-- TARGET CORP. has jumped into the corporate political campaign permitted by the Supreme Court this year. They have donated $ 150,000. to Tom Emmer, the GOP Gov. candidate in Minnesota...Anyone see a potential consequence or two for TARGET? Maybe a boycott, or demonstration at their stores?
