For any Georgians out there, Roy Barnes won the Dem
nomination for Governor's race, and much to my surprise, Karen Hebdel is leading the Pub side, although she does not yet have 50% of the vote so there may be a runoff.

Here's a link to the Sec. of State's site for up to date voting results.

BTW, the reason I am surprised that Karen is leading is that there was a televised debate on GPB TV on Sat. and KAren didn't show up. Her absence was displayed by an empty podium, and almost all the other Pub candidates made very nasty comments about her not being there. They used everything from irresponsible to afraid of them (her male opposition).

1. Okay, so why wasn't she there really?
Republicans voted for the empty chair? The female empty chair? I need more details. And popcorn.

2. Handel was the first Repub. Secretary of State in Ga. history.
She was elected in 2006 and only served one year and resigned to concentrate her efforts on the governor's race. She was endorsed by Sarah Palin so that's tells you a lot! I haven't paid a lot of attention to the Pub race, but apparently the four other Pub candidates (all white men) must have accused her of a lot of things that she refuted. When GBP invited her to attend the telivised debate, she declined saying there were scheduling conflicts. It's the TV network's policy that if a candidate fails to show up, they are represented by an empty podium.

I keep checking the SOS site and although she is still leading, she hasn't broken the 50% requirement to avoid a runoff. She's at 34% right now, and that idiot Nathan Deal (who used to be MY Rep. in the US House) is second with 22%. I think (AND HOPE) Roy Barnes can pull out a win in Nov. and I sure don''t want anyone that Palin endorsed, but I do find it funny that all those guys ripped Handel during that Debate and she's beating them all

3. Ah, so she didn't just shab off. She SAID she wasn't coming.
