Breitbart On Sherrod's NAACP Speech: 'I Did Not Edit This Thing'
The crux of the Shirley Sherrod controversy is what she said outside of the two-minute video clip posted by Big Government -- whether she was, as she claims, telling a story about how she overcame racial prejudice while helping poor farmers in Georgia, or whether the clip is a good encapsulation of her views. So we asked Andrew Breitbart, the founder of Big Government, why he hasn't posted the full video.

"I don't have it," Breitbart told TPMmuckraker in an interview. Breitbart said his source sent him just the edited clips at first, but is in the process of sending the full video.

Breitbart said he'll post the full video, if he can get permission from the video production company who filmed it for a local NAACP chapter. He also maintained that he didn't edit the clip and that it was sent to him already edited.

Sherrod was the Georgia director of rural development for the USDA until yesterday, when Breitbart posted the video (below) in which she says that, in 1986, she didn't help a farmer as much as she could have because he was white. Sherrod told CNN this morning she was forced to resign immediately by her superiors in Washington. She contends that, in the March speech to a Georgia chapter of the NAACP, she was telling a story of how she got past her own prejudices.

But even if the full video shows what Sherrod says it does, Breitbart said he's seen enough.

"I think the video speaks for itself," he said. "The way she's talking about white people ... is conveying a present tense racism in my opinion. But racism is in the eye of the beholder."

5. They knew it was libelous. It's all about plausible deniability.

Look at them all pointing fingers. Fox News says don't look at us, we just reported what Breitbart posted on his website. Now Breitbart says don't look at me, I just posted what an "anonymous" source sent me. Right. This was planned at the highest levels.

6. I believe Breit-barf when he says he didn't get the full video
Edited on Wed Jul-21-10 07:59 AM by rocktivity
If he had, he obviously wouldn't have run with it! :eyes:

More to the point, didn't he at least wonder about the rest of the speech was? Fox News certainly should have, since they're in the fair and balanced business. The real tragedy here is that it didn't occur to ANYBODY to get Sherrod's side of the story first. Props to her for fighting back.

8. Mission Accomplished...
Of course the slimeball doesn't have the video...he got it from someone else. The dog ate the homework as well. Doesn't matter if it's been refuted, the damage is done, Ms. Sherrod's reputation had been destroyed and she's been fired. Even if she's brought back, it'll be due to media scrutiny and the focus is not on the lies but of the consequences. Meanwhile hate radio will continue to echo how Sherrod, the NAACP and this administration are racists no matter what the real truth is. The slime has been done...time for notsobreitbart to move on to the next one.

11. He's a slandering sack of shit
But then again, slandering minorities based on made up crap is a very accepted tactic on both sides of the aisle. I suggest such slanders need to cease, toward any and all minorities.
