Gibbs purposely kept himself misinformed about links between the White House and the Ag Dept, so he could sidestep this one.

4. Why is it always either/or? |

Clearly they played right into the hand of the Breitbart smear machine, but Breitbart didn't fire anybody. We all have to be accountable for what we do. This wasn't complicated. It took all of 2 minutes to explain to context of the statement. Anyone with any integrity would NEVER have fired someone in this situation when presented the facts. They may not have acted with malice like the Fox crowd, but the administration fucked this up. It doesn't diminish the appalling nature of the smear to demand responsibility for such a knee-jerk act of stupidity and cowardice, and that rests with someone in the adminsitration.
