White House to media: You lapped up Breitbart's nonsense, too!
White House to media: You lap up Breitbart's nonsense, too!

.............

"I had a lot of people asking for a response to the two and a half minutes," Gibbs said. "My guess is you heard from a lot of your editors saying, Go get reaction to this story."

Gibbs then described the media process. "You all see it, you all want reaction, we get reaction," Gibbs said. He lamented that news orgs then aired the two and a half minute snippet, as well as the White House reaction based on that snippet, without seeking fuller context themselves.

Gibbs then suggested that media orgs, too, should ask themselves if they handled this properly: "I dont think there's anybody involved in that chain that wouldn't think, from start to finish, that this shoudn't have been handled differently."

Translation: Maybe you all should stop using Breitbart as your assignment editor.

3. This is true, however I expect more from this WH.
The fact that FOX and Breitbart lie and deceive is part of their standard operating procedure. We all know the media is just lazy and stupid to do their jobs - but how the WH and Congress falls for this stuff over and over again is beyond me. *facepalm*

7. But the White House should have known better...
...or at least checked things out more before flying off the handle. At the end of the day, the media anymore live by the old adage, "Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story." The White House, of all institutions, should know that by now, too.

9. Lessons to learn
I'm a big supporter of our President, but this administration has a lesson to learn. If you expect loyalty, show loyalty - end of lesson.

Now, the media... What we laughingly call the "news" media. We have not had independent news organizations for a couple of decades. Not since news bureaus and their budgets were consumed by the entertainment divisions of the major media outlets. So, its not all that surprising that a fat white racist like Breitbart can pass himself off as a legitimate news source. Even after the Acorn edited video fiasco - the MSM still swallow his screed hook, line, and sinker. Numbskulls like Chuck "where's the cocktail party" Todd busily blame everyone but themselves when they end up advancing the racist tea bagger agenda, attacking Obama, the NAACP, and worst of all - breeding racial hatred in their conservative followers. But here's one plain and simple fact. If just one of the TV talking head celebutants acted like a reporter for just five minutes and demanded at least two independent sources before running a piece of shit story like this, it never would have seen the light of day.

When a news organizations primary goal is ratings, what shows up during the "news hour" will sink to the lowest common denominator.

13. Yes, the media should stop using Breitbart as its assignment editor
The White House should likewise stop using Breitbart, or the media, or the editors, or Glenn Beck, or whoever is calling the shots, as their director of personnel. Because it sure as the world wasn't anyone except someone in the White House who decided that Sherrod Brown needed to leave her job.

If the real world consequences weren't so serious, this whole nutty escapade would be almost laughable. But real people are losing real jobs, and the media elites don't give a rip. I voted for the installation of an administration that ostensibly would care, but it appears that was fool's gold as well, Mr. Gibbs. Please, please, please feel free to prove me wrong, but this debacle does not augur well.

15. I'm sorry but we all know that media's motto is "lead with what bleeds," the WH and Obama's
administration are fools to compare themselves with the media. They should be level headed leaders, not wimpy reactionaries.
