1. One great moment in music in my life was when he played an evening of improv at my seminary.

Just 80 or so of us in the chapel listening to Moore and a couple friends make a shitload of noise for 30-40 minutes. Loud as hell, and absolutely wonderful! They were playing their guitars with metal files, stuff they found around the area, and dragging them on the amps and jumping on them. The cellist, alas, really could never be heard.

I can't remember who the other guitarist was - I think someone said it was Thurston's friend, and not someone from the band.

The first half of the evening was a trio of jazz musicians who improvised a piece for about an hour.

The whole purpose of the evening was to let us experience "improvisation". Wonderful!

We had some pretty cool shit at seminary.
