Liberals for Palin in 2012
At the Netroots Nation conference in Las Vegas last week, the liberals and Democrats gathered for this annual tech-centric event were polled on a range of issues, including which GOP candidate they want to take on Obama in the 2012 presidential election. Their answer? "Mama grizzly" Sarah Palin, by a landslide.

Talking Points Memo, which snagged an early version of the Netroots straw poll results, reports that 48 percent of those polled want the ex-Alaska governor and former vice presidential nominee to win the Republican nomination in 2012. Libertarian figurehead Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) came in a distant second, with 11 percent. Filling out the rest of the pack were former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum (11 percent), 2008 GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney (9 percent), Newt Gingrich (8 percent), and Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty (7 percent).

The takeaway here is obvious: Liberals want wacky, fringe candidates—or in Santorum's case, candidates with horrendous image problems—so as to clear the way for four more years of Obama.

1. That's just crazy.
I don't want her anywhere near a White House run. My head says she hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell, of course...

My heart says otherwise.

It would give her a legitimacy that she does not deserve.

She needs to be sent into permanent obscurity, and a White House run would do just the opposite.

2. I agree.
I don't think we should be cheering a Palin run. Should the economic situation deteriorate and people blame Obama for not fixing it, whoever the Republican candidate is could very well be elected by default. Would definitely prefer a more moderate Republican who didn't have a Jesus-complex, just in case.

4. She couldn't possibly win, and Saturday Night Live will no doubt bring back Tina Fey
in her role as the dim witted "I can see Russia from my kitchen window" Sarah Palin. What could be better than that?

12. "She couldn't possibly win."
Yeah, that's what I thought about Bush in 2000.

That's the year I learned that you don't have to win the election in order to reside in the White House.

Her negatives are already through the roof, WAY WAY higher that Bush in 2000. She has no centrist appeal. Look at her polling numbers outside the conservative core. She's hopeless.

28. Me too
I started voting Democrat (as opposed to third party or write ins) that year, because I couldn't believe he made it to the primaries. He always was an clearly incompetent asshole, and a fucking creep.

Palin is very similar to what Bush is and in a comparable political position. Only this time, she has the internet, a very powerful influence.

but you sadly misunderestimate the typical American's capacity to completely overlook their own well-being in their overwhelming desire to be totally STUPID!!!

21. She couldn't possibly win. But then neither could Chimpy.
Winning doesn't matter though, when you can outright steal two elections, and get away with it.

They tried to steal 2008 too. Only the massive turnout allowed Obama to emerge with the electoral landslide that he did, but the actual number of people who voted for him far exceeded the "official" numbers.

That turnout probably won't be there in 2012, and the probable result will be another "close election" decided by electro-fraud machines.

And if that happens, I'll be praying the Mayans were right about the world ending on December 21. :scared:

stolen, then what difference does it matter who runs? Isn't easier to steal the election if it is close, rather than a landslide? Isn't that how Obama won? He got enough votes that they just couldn't swing the theft. So the weaker the opposition, the better.

31. The electro-frauders best defense is the "margin of error"
Edited on Tue Jul-27-10 11:27 AM by Sebastian Doyle
If the election appears to be decided by only 1 or 2% of the vote, they can always claim that the pre-election polls and the exit polls were wrong, and few would question it, because polls always have a "margin of error" which is usually +/- 3% or so.

This wouldn't have worked in 2008, for example, because the turnout was huge, and most of the increase was from younger voters 18-30. Nobody was going to believe that demographic was turning out to vote for a 72 year old 4 time cancer survivor and his two digit IQ running mate.

It's a sure bet that at least half the ticket is going to be an incomprehensible fool, and that the 21-Percenters will be infatuated.

I'm looking forward to some classic Tina Fey performances if it's Copter Barbie, though.

9. All of Will Ferrel's mocking got us where?
Bush 2000. The writing was on the wall, but look what happened. They stole an election and the deciding state was run by his brother. The one in charge of counting the votes campaigned for Bush. Yes Sarah is a dip shit, but let's not for get Bush. With the decision on Citizens United it could be done believe it or not. As much as I would love to laugh at her, she just might get the last laugh at us.

15. Yes, we are irrational at best,...
fucking crazed at the worst.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/sep/19/half-of-americans-believe-in-angels/

"Half of all Americans believe they are protected by guardian angels, one-fifth say they've heard God speak to them, one-quarter say they have witnessed miraculous healings, 16 percent say they've received one and 8 percent say they pray in tongues, according to a survey released Thursday by Baylor University."

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,305277,00.html

"...34 percent of people ...say they believe in ghosts, according to a pre-Halloween poll by The Associated Press and Ipsos. That's the same proportion who believe in unidentified flying objects — exceeding the 19 percent who accept the existence of spells or witchcraft.

A smaller but still substantial 23 percent say they have actually seen a ghost or believe they have been in one's presence..."

Throw into that environment an economy that could slip into a very real depression. Add vast flows of cash thrown at business friendly Republican candidates no matter their wacked out personal beliefs, and the lunatics could be running things soon if we're not very careful.

top of the list, building truly a better world, working for the collective betterment of mankind, integrity and all sorts of things. Now, it's become significantly unglued. Frankly, I think the country is bordering on being ungovernable.
