six weeks before he died. That was about 3 weeks before the price went up to 39 cents. I think that roll will outlive me, unless I'm using 2 or 3 at a time by the end.

He had stamps with no valuation on them that I took to the post office and found out what they were worth--and then I used them!

I do believe the 39 cent stamps without a price had a white background while the 41 cent universal stamps has a somewhat tan background to them.
I'm assuming you mean using them without the two cent stamps.
