Lawrence O'Donnell Show Gets a Name, Launch Date
LOS ANGELES - July 30, 2010 - "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" will premiere Monday, Sept. 27 on MSNBC, 10-11 p.m. ET. MSNBC President Phil Griffin announced the premiere date and title of the program this afternoon at the Television Critics Association session in Los Angeles. "The Last Word" will reach back into O'Donnell's extraordinary background in politics, entertainment and news, providing the last word on the biggest issues and most compelling stories of the day.

"Lawrence is one of the rare hosts in cable news who has been in the room when policy is created. His background is an amazing asset to our primetime lineup, and I can't wait for it to debut," said Griffin.

O'Donnell has been a MSNBC political analyst since the network's launch in 1996 and has been the regular guest host for "Countdown with Keith Olbermann." He has also guest hosted for "Hardball with Chris Matthews," "The Ed Show" and "The Rachel Maddow Show."

1. I hope this doesn't mean I won't be able to watch Keith O in CA
I can't be home to watch the original broadcast at 4:00 Pacific. I have to watch the rerun at 7:00 Pacific/10:00 Eastern. I'm going to be really pissed if I lose Countdown.

6. If MSNBC had any sense
They would repeat the entire block of programming (Ed/Tweety/Keith/Rachel/this new show) starting at 8:00 Pacific/11:00 eastern.

7. And drop that useless Lockup / Predator tripe.

I know it's cheap to produce, but so are repeats.

I come to MSNBC for some semblance of news. I don't care if it's heavily seasoned with opinion, so long as those opinions are in the same ballpark as mine. Their news/opinion shows are usually riveting and informative.

9. Maybe it's time to think about a DVR or similar gadget.
I'm thinking of one. My family got one and they love it because they can tape all the cooking shows they like but that air during the day when they are at work.

13. I have one
for motocross races aired at 2AM. But now I can't imagine life without it. I can record some off-beat political show or doc, and watch at will, bit and pieces.

5. well I hope he does better than last night
I won't be watching after his performance on Countdown last night.
He shouldn't call the Pres. a liar, unless it is George Bush and even then no one really know what Bush's knowledge or lack of knowledge is.
What has he watched MTV with Pres.Obama or discussed it with him, he needs to explain his intimate knowledge of the Pres before I tune in.

14. Happy here, but what about beady eyes in the morning?
Joe has dissappeared off the show in the morning, and Mika has to do the Republic slant for him. Are they easing him out, or did he hurt his back during a vigorous "debate" with Mika? Hm? and of course, the world wants to know what Pat "both hand gestures" Buchanan thinks about every little current event.

16. Lawrence O' Donnell
Once I took complete umbrage at a position of his, which I did not at all agree with. And the thing is, and I never say this, Lawrence was right. I was wrong. I take his opinion very seriously now.
Also, he is one of the very few people anywhere near politics that has any understanding of the media, they all claim to understand it, but they don't. They botch it all, all the time.
He will be an excellent addition to the line up.
