Wikileaker in Solitary Confinement at Quantico/ "Openly Gay" WTF?
According to this article PFC Manning is at Quantico,VA awaiting court martial and is under a suicide watch.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38499161/ns/us_news-security

This article claims he is "openly gay" and may have leaked the info after a spat with his boyfriend.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/afghanistan/7918632/Bradley-Manning-suspected-source-of-Wikileaks-documents-raged-on-his-Facebook-page.html

<<The Pentagon, which is investigating the source of the leak, is expected to study Mr Manning’s background to ascertain if they missed any warnings when he applied to join the US Army. The postings on his Facebook page are also likely to form part of the inquiry.

Mr Manning, who is openly homosexual, began his gloomy postings on January 12, saying: "Bradley Manning didn't want this fight. Too much to lose, too fast." >>

WTF? Since when can you be "openly gay" and serve in the US Army? Especially US Army Intelligence.

Is this the start of a smear campaign against PFC Manning?

2. Yes, but it's really a twofer.
They're going to trot this out as a reason we can't have gays in the military: they're traitors when pissy.

They're going to make this man very sorry he ever listened to his kindergarten teacher and told the truth.

5. My pleasure!
I'm kind of new around here (lurked for over a year, registered last fall). Glad to add something of value to someone in our community.

11. Yep, I'm afraid that's what this looks like.
Gay people can't be trusted, they can be blackmailed, shouldn't be given sensitive posts.

Sounds like he's being rail-roaded.

10. The telegraph is a rag that is no better than the NY Post or the Washington Times.
It always surprises me when somebody takes them seriously.

13. or the NYT
This is nothing but the beginning of a very large and orchestrated psy-ops.
Can you see how quickly a hero can become scum? It is done over and over in history with respect to military and government detractors.

14. I read that he is in process of a trans-op or seeking such
shortly after he was arrested. Village Voice? Vanity Fair? Don't recall, but was a supportive article - not a slam.

No clue as to how this fits in with DADT, but it certainly got my attention at the time.

Too many to list. Apparently had to do with chat log interpretations.

16. Smear campaign.
It's an attempt to paint everyone who's LGBT as a security risk.

The right-wing propaganda machine in this country has no depths that it won't stoop to.

18. My first thought also, and an attempt to smear anyone LGB and allow DADT
to continue.

'Suicide watches' in Gitmo didn't work so well...
