A Gallup poll released today pegged the approval rating for Congress at 29%. This is down from last month's 33% and well below the year's high of 37%.

...

This may reflect some unhappiness with the Democrats' inability to take strong action against the Iraq war.

1. My fear is that they'll take this as a signal to become even more timid;
I'm sure that's what their inside-the-beltway consultants will be advising them to do.:banghead:

Let me be the analyst for a moment
The public is pissed at congress for not tightening the noose on bush and for making quicker headway in at least reducing our presence in Iraq. After all that's what the people voted for in 06.

No doubt the brilliant fred barnes and billy the shank kristol will have differing anal-y-sis.

7. Not much we can do without the votes.
We may have a majority but it's barely enough to squeak by in getting anything done with the Chimp in office.

11. Roger that Gatorboy
That's why this rational old fart holds congress in incredibly greater esteem then bush. I give congress about a 92, I'll give about a 4. I think the Speaker and Senate Majority Leader have done an outstanding job considering the numbers.

9. Congress needs to get the show on the road.
The Dems were elected to get our troops the hell out of Iraq.

DO IT.

The Dems were elected to provide oversight of the Executive Branch.

THEY ARE DOING THIS.

The Dems were elected to restore the checks and balances the GOP ignored.

THEY ARE DOING THIS.

The Dems need to keep moving forward in a forceful manner, with ALL OPTIONS ON THE TABLE. INCLUDING IMPEACHMENT.

Some are doing this, others are not. ALL OF THEM NEED TO GET ONBOARD THE IMPEACHMENT TRAIN. It is late leaving the station.

This will improve their approval ratings.
