my suggestions for boosting the economy |
|
1. let the tax cuts for the rich die. then raise their taxes some.
2. make the criminal pentagon come up with the rest of the money needed to maintain america.
they have 'misplaced' obscene amounts of our money. enough money to run several countries.
military brass should be poked with sharp sticks until they find the money.

1. Hire people to fix our infrastructure! |
|
Our roads, bridges, tunnels all need repair before tragedies occur. Start building wind farms, start putting solar cells on the roofs of every mall in America and every high rise along with roof gardens. Install wind turbines on every tall building in the country. There's enough employment for everyone if we improve our country.

2. I still don't understand why increasing taxes boosts the economy |
|
At best it will make no impact on consumption. Why do people think it is good for the economy? Is there any economic theory behind this?

6. We have the 50s and 60s to look to. |
|
During that time the top rate was 80 to 90% for the rich. That forced them to reinvest profits or pay the tax on them. That caused steady growth for the whole economy. When the rates dropped, they gambled away those earnings on speculations that caused the dangerous bubbles of the last couple of decades. Same thing happened in the late 20s that led to the great depression. If you recall, during those high tax and high tariff years we grew to become the leading economic country in the world.. Basic econ. 101.

7. Actually I heard we were #1 in the 50s and 60s because Germany and Japan were bombed to smithereens. |
