Stoned teabagger Rand Paul abducted girl in college-GQ
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/09/rand-paul-abducted-female_n_675766.html

'Just when the weird anecdotes involving Kentucky Republican Rand Paul appeared to have been exhausted, GQ published a profile of the Tea Party favorite that included a bizarre, colorful and decidedly sketchy episode from his college years.

The strangest episode of Paul's time at Baylor occurred one afternoon in 1983 ... when he and a paid a visit to a female student who was one of Paul's teammates on the Baylor swim team. According to this woman, who requested anonymity because of her current job as a clinical psychologist, "He and Randy came to my house, they knocked on my door, and then they blindfolded me, tied me up, and put me in their car. They took me to their apartment and tried to force me to take bong hits. They'd been smoking pot." After the woman refused to smoke with them, Paul and his friend put her back in their car and drove to the countryside outside of Waco, where they stopped near a creek. "They told me their god was 'Aqua Buddha' and that I needed to bow down and worship him," the woman recalls. "They blindfolded me and made me bow down to 'Aqua Buddha' in the creek. I had to say, 'I worship you Aqua Buddha, I worship you.' At Baylor, there were people actively going around trying to save you and we had to go to chapel, so worshiping idols was a big no-no."
The story is almost too bizarre to digest in full -- from the blindfolded, pot-infused kidnapping to the weird worship of the Aqua Buddha deity. And, in that respect, it's important to note that it was delivered via anonymous attribution.'

7. Not sure I buy it
Kidnapping to forced bong hits? Seems more like anti-cannabis propaganda than a true story. I know, I know it is Rand Paul but this story is too much. I'll change my opinion if more facts come in to support this version.

9. I positively don't fucking buy it...
This is bullshit. No fucking real stoner(and I'm speaking as one) is motivated enough to fucking kidnap someone to force them to smoke pot. If this happened and there was pot involved it was secondary to whatever feeble thoughts were running around in Pauls brain.

11. Exactly
When I'm under the influence of cannabis I get "stuck" a lot. Meaning, I gotta leave, wanna leave, but I can't fucking leave. That isn't to say violent crimes have never been committed while under the influence of THC but this seems like a whole lot of effort and for what?

12. 'real stoner' good point...
perhaps he wasn't a 'real stoner' and the drug overtook him.

Or perhaps he was on mescaline or ecstasy or mushrooms or DMT or coke or speed or any combination of the other readily available illicit drugs on college campuses.

15. Well maybe it's a psychological thing but I've done all those drugs before
and never, and I mean never wanted to kidnap someone or do something to hurt someone else. If anything most of those drugs X, Mesc, LSD, Mushrooms gave me better insight on how to not hurt people. Plus there is always the "I'm tripping my balls off and nothing in the world can move me from this spot"

Maybe you are right, the difference between a "real stoner" and a poser" people who can handle their drugs and people who can't.

Drug use is still a scarlet letter of sorts but times are changing.

In the future it will be impossible to find ANY candidate who hasn't used illegal drugs (nor would I want one who hadn't!)

18. In agreement
The main thing a drug does is get you high. It doesn't make you insane but does lead to bizarre behavior and after years of brain damage you could become insane. I believe the most dangerous aspect of the drugs I took is the user has been up over 24 hours, high on glass. It makes you very paranoid which can be humorous like a couple of friends back several years ago was hiding underneath a kitchen table for hours because they thought a helicopter was circling their home. It turns out the noise they were hearing was the AC. The paranoia I'm talking about is when in their minds they come up with scenarios where people they know are stabbing them in the back because that leads to acting on those actions. It will cause you to think all kinds of things. The police are constantly nearby and on their way, spouse is cheating, etc. Other than that most of the crime results from people trying to support their habit like stealing, selling electronics, jewelry, etc. to score more dope. With that said. Never in my mind (altered) I even dreamed of doing something like this.

These days only cannabis, nicotine, and coffee for me. I do drink alcohol on occasion.

straight. A friend gave me a little bump to keep me up. But I have been awake for a few days on Coke and yeah I can see where that could get you in trouble. Lots of drugs combined with sleep depravation could send an already shaky mind right over the edge. The longest I went was 4 days with no sleep, I was planning on going another day but walking home from the store, a troll jumped out of a tree and told me "you need to get some fucking sleep dude", so I went home and slept for 2 days. But if the troll had told me to go out and kidnap a girl and make her take bong hits I'm sure I would have told him he was nuts.

“National Enquirer type stories about Dr. Paul’s teenage years should be left to the supermarket tabloids where they belong.”

The first thing I notice here is there is no denial of the allegations. If Paul's campaign didn't want to respond at all, fine. I don't think too many people would hold it against them given the nature of the allegation. However, they DID choose to respond. Since they did make that choice, why not dismiss the allegation as false? Instead they simply try to disparage the "type" of story it is (as if GQ has a history of printing untrue allegations like the National Enquirer), and they go on to suggest that even if it were true, it happened in his "teenage years." It just appears as if they are afraid of this story growing legs and they don't want to deny something that might be revealed to be true later on.

Had they chose not to respond, I would have dismissed the story entirely. As it is now I have to go, hmmmm.

25. I think that's exactly why they are afraid of this one
Even a tabloid story can grow legs if it's true. Their response just looks like they are afraid of more information coming out.

If you assume the story is true for a moment, they MUST respond because they would know more information may come out. Ignoring it would make it look like they were trying to hide something. If more does come out, they can always say, well we never lied about it and he was just a "teenager" after all. (Right, an ADULT teenager).

If Paul was innocent, the most reasonable thing to do would be to either ignore it or deny it. They did neither. Something doesn't smell right here. I hope the woman decides to come forward at some point.

20. it's about power and humiliation, not idols
If true (and given the attribution, that is highly questionable), the point isn't that Paul was an idol worshipper. The point of the story is not that the men in question were actually worshippers of their made up idol, but that they compelled a woman to say she worshipped an idol. If idol worship was apparently specifically "a big no-no" at Baylor, it doesn't sound like a harmless prank were a couple of pot heads decide to do silly things all in good fun, it was an act designed to humiliate the woman they had kidnapped and tied up.

32. If this were a a Democrat, I would demand an on the record source
I will do the same thing here. There are more than enough reasons to think Rand Paul should never get near a Senate seat.

Now, I realize I could be wrong and this could be true - and it is troubling and really should not be labeled frat fun any more than the well documented W branding freshman stories. I would suggest that the same people who would not reject Bush based on his admitted behavior, will consider that this was when Rand was young and irresponsible. (I think either - if proven - would end a Democratic run. Not because of pot or Aqua Buddah, but because of the treatment of women (here) and people with less power (Bush).
