Of Woodchucks and Ginger Cats |
|
After one day of displaying a pragmatic woodchuck as my avatar, I have switched back to my usual image of Fat Freddy's Cat. Fat Freddy's Cat turns his back to the use of politically-volatile avatars as a divisive tool. Fat Freddy's cat, ever independent of political in-fighting, walks off, tail high in the air, displaying his nether parts to such human silliness.
While I initially thought it was a good idea to reclaim the woodchuck image as a representation of common-sense pragmatism and realism, I've decided that I'll not fight over something as silly as an avatar on a discussion forum. Everyone should simply choose his or her own avatar, for whatever reason he or she sees fit. Hereafter, my avatar will be a symbol of turning my back on unproductive in-fighting. Instead, I'll just keep on doing what I've always done - working to get Democrats elected to office and defeating the Republicans. It's a simple thing. It's a necessary thing. If Republicans regain control of Congress in 2010 or 2012, it will mean a reversion to the failed, destructive polices of the Bush administration and worse. If Democrats hold their majorities in both houses, progress will continue. It is that simple.
As Fat Freddy's Cat once said to Freddy: "You pee in my drink, and I'll crap in your shoe." I'm not exactly sure what he meant by that, but it made me laugh, and laughter is good.

was when the litterbox hadn't been cleaned out in a long time and crapping in shoes hadn't gotten the message across. Fat Freddie looked in his shoes and was delighted there was no cat crap in them one day. The last panel had the cat thinking, "Just wait until he puts his headphones on."
You can't go wrong with Fat Freddie's cat.

but wrong about R. Crumb. The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers was the creation of Gilbert Shelton, another comic genius. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabulous_Furry_Freak_Brothers

6. You're absolutely right. |

 My only excuse is that I was mostly under the influence of...various things...when I was exposed to both.
Somebody once asked me if I remembered 1969. My answer was "Parts of it."

7. LOL. I have a complete set of FFFB from those days. |

Every once in a while, I pull one out. They're not the same without some mood enhancements, but still funny as hell.
Most issues are still available as reprints, and there are a couple of jumbo collections out there.
