This is basically what Iran is going through and how many of us would expect that the USA should stand idly by in such a case?
The proof that the American populace is full of dimwits lapping up the corporate media tripe is the fact that you hear absolutely no one running this scenario over the airwaves except maybe on AAR (and I haven't heard it there yet). I hold out little hope for us. It seems we are conditioned beyond belief at this point.
WTF! WE ARE THE REASON IRAN IS ACTING TO DEFEND ITSELF!
Now the shrub is double dog daring Iran. Shades of Gulf Of Tonkin. Jesus we need to frog march this little tyrant, and his partners in crime, right out of the White House NOW!!!!!!

2. Hmmmm. Lessons of history... |

Seems that the US was involved in a proxy war, indirectly against Russia, in a far off land in the early eighties. Afghanistan was payback for Viet Nam.
Now the US is getting its payback for turning a blind eye to Saddam's war against Iran from the same time period. This is our continued blowback for installing the Shah on his Peacock Throne.
What's more...if the US was surrounded on three sides by hostile forces lead by a belligerent leader what would it do? Would it sit idly by?
And if there is any need to find that America is full of dimwits all one needs to do is check out the rantings of the conservarats at free republic and CL WoPo.
I think that you might be familiar with the latter.
