The HCO for which I work wants employee suggestions on how to lower costs |
|
I think I'm going to suggest that they fight for single-payer, universal health care. The current gripe is that profits are down because of the "shift in the payer base...too many people on medicare and state aid" and not enough self-payers and big company insurers.
Wonder if I will get fired? I think I won't put my name.

5. Funny you say that. I just found out our CEO makes over a million a year |

for a "non-profit" hospital. Of course, we are expected to work with fewer nurses, take more patients, "market" our hospital, and take pay and benefit cuts. But he did "freeze" his salary this past year. What a guy!

unless you come up with some idea that you are certain they want to hear.
My company came up with this idea several years ago calling the program "Continuing Improvement". It is more than just submitting a concept, you have to actually do the leg work and run the cost numbers to save them money or your idea is rejected. If you do succeed in getting your idea approved and implemented you get to write the "Best Practices" directions to do so.
For your efforts you get a nice certificate suitable for framing (I have one hanging on my wall above my work station) and perhaps an invitation to the company box for a baseball game! (You will need to pay your own parking and pay for your own food btw and for those of us who can't stand sports, is a real treat.)
Oh, and my idea saved them $35K per year.

8. Why bother? It's just a farce. |
|
They ask for suggestions in order to claim they make their original cutbacks after receiving input from their employees.
