NH Legislator resigns after "dead Palin" comment on Facebook
(CNN) - A New Hampshire state legislator resigned his office Thursday after becoming the second Democrat in as many days to speculate about Sarah Palin's death on Facebook.

State Rep. Timothy Horrigan made the remarks Wednesday night in a thread discussing the Alaska plane crash that killed former Sen. Ted Stevens.

"Well a dead Palin wd be even more dangerous than a live one...she is all about her myth & if she was dead she cldn't commit any more gaffes," Horrigan wrote.

Seems a little extreme for him to resign over that. People are "resign happy" these days but he didn't say she should die or that he wanted her dead. Just speculating that at least it would shut her up.

1. No need to resign in my opinion.

2. But politically speaking that just wasn't savvy. I think the lesson we have seen this summer is
you can have personal opinions, just don't express them publicly.

5. Of course personal opinions can be expressed publicly
The "safe" opinions are confined to hippie punching, but that's just as safe as it's ever been.

7. I don't think either one should resign.
But that's the gut reaction to anyone who says something stupid nowadays. Everyone is bound to say something stupid sooner or later.

8. That is way out of line. Imagine if a repuke candidate referred to "dead Grayson"
This place would be on alert level 3 and probably near explosion level.

9. Did Joe Wilson resign after yelling "LIAR" at the SOTU?

Hell no. He didn't even consider it.
Horrigan shouldn't have either IMO.

10. Tim isn't too bright.
Better to just STFU next time, Tim.
